Creating things and bringing them to life has always been a passion of Adrian's. He's been an animator and freelance illustrator/cartoonist amongst a whole range of other jobs, which include the manager of a pottery decoration department and a tread technician for Michelin.  

I graduated in Law from University College Cork in 1995 and worked in three Law firms, before becoming a lecturer. I came to Staffordshire University in 2016 and become Course Leader for the LLB (Hons) Law a year later. 

My areas of expertise are Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law and European Union Law.

Alan has worked in the game industry for over 15 and gathered a wealth of industry experience from a diverse range of technology and creative sectors. Alan specialises in startups, game studio management, game development, game publishing, fundraising and commercialising game projects.

Alex is a digital sculptor and painter with a fine art background. Having worked as an artist, sculptor and educator he has been a senior lecturer in Computer Games Design for over 13 years.

He has run the highly successful Masters Program in Games Design for over a decade, the graduates of which are at the best games studios in the world.

Alyson has worked in FE and teacher and staff education for over years as a course and programme leader. She joined Staffordshire University in 2017. Alyson’s research interests are transitions at years as a course and programme leader. She joined Staffordshire University in 2017. Alyson’s research interests are transitions at university, social mobility and engagement and the potential of initiatives in citizen science.

Amanda's research interests are focussed on children's speech language and communication difficulties and the remediation of these difficulties. 

I am a lecturer for CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing

Andy's research interests include the use of technology to improve cycle-sport performance, the use of ergogenic aids / dietary supplements to improve sports performance and the use of training methods to improve sports performance.

Andy’s research interests include Automotive Propulsion and Vehicle Dynamics (mostly Engine related areas) branching out into Autonomous and Future Automotive.

Andy is a filmmaker and editor with credits on feature films, shorts films and music videos. He has an MA in Film Theory and Practice and particular expertise in film production, digital post production and course development.

Having graduated from Manchester School of Art - Manchester Metropolitan University, BA (Hons) Fashion in 2002, Ange has worked as an independent fashion designer and has over 15 years teaching experience in Fashion education.

I am a Ceramics Tutor.

Angela is a Chartered Marketer and holds an MSc in Strategic Marketing with Digital Marketing. Coming from a marketing practitioner background, Angela has worked for multi-national organisations in global marketing management roles. Since joining Staffordshire University in 2013, Angela has managed a number of courses within the Business School and has brought structure and teaching excellence to courses, resulting in high levels of student satisfaction.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse through Staffordshire University in 2000. I worked for 15 years as a Theatre Scrub Practitioner and Clinical Standards Facilitator in the Operating Theatres at an acute NHS Trust in the West Midlands, taking an active role in the support and development of Operating Department Practice students.

I studied English at the University of Cambridge before deciding to pursue a career in Law. I was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1994 and practised as a Barrister specialising in Family and Criminal Law. I am a qualified and experienced teacher in both maintained schools and the Higher Education sector.

Anna's arts practice examines private histories, public space and civic languages; using forms of intervention, mapping, performance, consultation and photography to investigate the impact of art and culture on the regeneration of cities.

Anthony is an industry veteran now working at Staffordshire University. Before this he has worked within the computer game, television and commercials sectors.  

I am a course tutor across distance learning and face to face Sport and Exercise degree programmes. I have teaching and supervisory responsibilities across undergraduate and postgraduate awards.

Ashley's area of expertise at Staffordshire is working positively with a range of harder-to-reach learners in order to develop the core academic and learning skills-set to be successful within a university level environment whilst developing a student's ability to adopt practices and techniques to learn effectively.

I have a multidisciplinary approach to sports education and aim to facilitate the learning of students to develop subject specific knowledge, and an overall understanding of sport and exercise. 

Beth is a Deputy Head Teacher at Oakridge Primary School in Stafford.

As Deputy Head, she has been responsible for the development of the learning culture and curriculum provision within the school. Prior to joining Oakridge, she was a Lead Maths Teacher and subsequently an Advanced Skills Teacher specialising in mathematics.

Beth has taught in both key stages and has led a range of subjects within both schools she has worked in. She is also a trained facilitator the Alliance of Leading Learning, delivering middle leadership training for aspiring and current middle leaders.

Beth is currently seconded to Staffordshire University and will work within the Primary Team.

I have 15 years' experience of providing counselling with a relational focus for couples, individuals and families.I currently teach on the Postgraduate/Professional Diploma and MSc Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Bill Ross has research interests in Continental Philosophy, the philosophy and history of Science, and contemporary physics, with particular expertise in the work of Gilles Deleuze, Michel Serres, Henri Bergson, A.N. Whitehead. He is on the editorial board of the Groundworks Series with Rowman and Littlefield and a member of the board for the Society for European Philosophy. He is currently preparing a monograph entitled Order and the Virtual: Towards a Deleuzian Cosmology.

Bob started out in my working life in the mining industry as a mining engineer but later converted to Computer Science, subsequent to which he spent several years in the IT industry in various capacities as a programmer, contractor, systems analyst, business IT consultant and project manager in the commercial sector, primarily in main frame and what would now be called enterprise development.

Carol is a member of the ERRIN (European Regions Research and Innovation Network) Tourism Working Group in Brussels. Taught in Switzerland, Finland and Croatia.

Research interests include the relationship between cultural awareness and visitor satisfaction in tourism, as well as LGBT and Family Tourism. Projects include book chapters on the composition and perception of LGBT families and their participation in tourism, as well as the historical development of the UK family holiday market (Channel View Publications).

My research interests explore sexuality and its impact on care and HIV, particularly in respect to ageing and psychosocial care. My modules include ‘Loss, Grief and Bereavement’ and ‘Care and Management of Persons Infected with HIV’.

Prof. Sturdy Colls’ pioneering research focuses on the application of interdisciplinary approaches to the investigation of Holocaust landscapes.

Having qualified as a teacher in 1995, Cathy became an acting head three years later. She went on to become headteacher in a range of schools, from a two-class rural primary school to a three-form entry infant school. She has also worked as a numeracy consultant, advising schools in the teaching of mathematics and running courses for teachers and as director of one of Shropshire’s two primary Teaching Schools where she designed and led the mathematics and other elements of a School Direct programme

Cathy has an M.Ed in Primary Mathematics and Educational Leadership & Management. Her research interests are focused within the sphere of primary mathematics education, in particular, on what factors affect how children record their mental maths strategies. She joined the Primary Team in 2020 and leads the maths provision, whilst working across a range of modules.

Charlene is a PR and digital strategist who has worked on integrated marketing campaigns for leading games giants such as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Eidos Interactive, Square Enix, Take Two Interactive, Midway Games, Ubisoft, Disney Interactive and Shindo Interactive.

She oversaw the creation of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment in the UK (launching titles such as LEGO Batman, F.E.A.R, LEGO Rockband, Contact: Denied Ops) and headed up the UK PR department for Eidos Interactive.

Chris teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and is an International Programme advisor in Greece and has examined externally in both the UK and China. He has also developed a series of flexible learning awards for part time students and run the Universities Cisco Academy. Chris' background is based in electronics, having worked in R&D and field engineering gaining CEng status in 2006. 

Chris worked as a Design Engineer in the automotive sector and in secondary Education specialising in creativity and Product Design Technology. His interests include historical product design, new manufacturing methods & materials and creative applied prototyping.

Claire's research is primarily focused on children’s drawings with further projects focussing on the development of expressive drawing, and more specifically how this compares to the development of representational drawing skill, longitudinal development of expressive drawing, autistic children’s expressive drawing ability and the use of drawing as a memory aid.

Claire I am a small-press comic artist and illustrator. I create and self-publish all of my own comics and sell them at conventions around the country. I also work as a 2D background artist for various different game projects.

Colin is an approachable Course Leader who’s dedicated to helping his students do their best work. An active film and video production practitioner with over 500 productions under his belt, Colin brings his ongoing practical knowledge and experience directly into his teaching.

Dan is a lecturer in Sport and Exercise and is the Course Leader for PGCE Physical Education and PE and Youth Sport Coaching courses. 

Dan has years of industry experience working with some of the UK’s largest retailers developing products for market and has travelled extensively across Europe and the Far East to work with suppliers on his designs.

Dan has extensive knowledge of software and techniques used in visual effects, particularly Maya, PFtrack and Nuke. His research interests are around the meeting of art and technology, especially when it comes to simulation and computational geometry.

I have worked for mental health organisations as a counsellor working with adults, young people and children to support them with general mental distress and loss and bereavement. I also worked as a psychotherapist in a CSE residential where I provided counselling and psychotherapeutic support to individuals with a range of needs as a result of experiencing complex trauma.

Dave's expertise focuses on Control engineering, signal processing, electrical circuit analysis, analogue electronics, hardware-based digital electronics, radar.

His research interests focus on Social Implications of Technology, Technology and Society.

Dave is an experienced technical artist and academic. He teaches on many of the earlier levels of the Games Art degree, using his expertise in 3D character and environment art, 3D scripting, and level design in the Unreal Engine.

Dave teaches studio design, acoustics, studio production and electronics. An active member of the Institute of Acoustics, he is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dave teaches audiovisual composition, audio mastering, sound synthesis and music software design. He has a PhD in visual music composition and produces a variety of electronic music.

David has been a lecturer at Staffordshire University since 2002, after completing his degree here in Applied and Analytical Chemistry.

His expertise are in Chemical Analysis, Criminalistic Methods and Crime Scene Processing; his research interests include blood spatter simulations, crime scene investigation and fingerprint development/enhancement and digitisation. 

Davis is the Postgraduate Award Administrator for the MBA.

A former BBC cameraman, David Wheeler has worked as a freelance film director all around the world. David is a champion of peer-assisted learning and mentoring, and loves helping students achieve their career potential.

David graduated from Staffordshire University in 2000 with a 1st class BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. David is a highly experienced computer programmer with specialities in Artificial Life, Artificial Intelligence, Games, VR, AR and emerging technologies. 

I am a practitioner who has worked for West Yorkshire Police as a VIPER Officer (2 Years) then an Imaging Officer (6 years) eventually progressing to Senior Imaging Officer. Finishing my time within the West Yorkshire Police’s Forensic Multimedia Unit.

I began working part time for the university in 2011 then eventually leaving the Police and joining the University as a lecturer and HEIF project lead in 2012.

Debi has a keen interest in Automotive and Aeronautical Aerodynamics, Engine Design and Engineering History (Automotive and Aeronautical).

I am a Lecturer in Policing. 

Derrick studied Drama at Liverpool Polytechnic (BA) and University of Essex (MA). Before taking up teaching full time. He's been a playwright, script reader, postgraduate researcher, and part-time drama lecturer.

I currently teach on the Professional/Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, the University Certificate in Counselling and some guest teaching on the Introduction to Counselling on the Undergraduate Degree Courses.

Doug has been teaching since 2006, initially starting his career in the Further Education sector where he specialised in the delivery of Higher Education in a Further Education setting. Since joining Staffordshire University, Doug has been an integral part of the Music team and contributes across a wide range of programmes and areas of study. Outside of his work Doug is interested in tabletop games, home brewing, long distance cycling and local politics. 

Abdel-Hamid's expertise includes automation, including Smart Cities, Building automation, Energy management, Security, Safety and health applications.

Prior to joining Staffordshire University, I worked as Legal Research Team Lead at CUBE Global, London, and Assistant Professor of Law at Al Ain University of Science and Technology. My research interests lie in Private and Public International Law, International trade and finance Law, Arbitration Law, Oil and Gas Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. 

I am a Lecturer in Forensic Science.

Dr Agata Lulkowska is Lecturer in Film Production in the Department of Film, Media and Journalism. Agata’s background is in film practice, installations and photography. She is also a prolific interdisciplinary researcher with the main interest in practice-based research, intercultural communication, ethnographic film, experimental film, short fiction, politics of representation and world cinema.

A former Artistic Director at the Discovering Latin America in London, and a recipient of the European Commission grant for her photography installation, Agata strives to engage in both theory and practice with her academic outputs.

At Staffordshire Business School, Dr Mlouk has taught a wide range of subjects/modules at undergraduate, Postgraduate and professional levels. These modules included: Business Finance, Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance, International Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Reporting Analysis and more.

Alex's diverse coaching experience ranges from Stoke City Ladies FC to coaching football in New Zealand on their International Player Development Progamme and across the Midwest States of the USA. Alex's interests lie in analysing sport coach learning processes and using sociological frameworks to help further explain cultural aspects which influence how coaches learn and behave.

Ali has about five years of industry experience and has been part of academia for about three years and joined Staffordshire University in 2017. Previously he was studying at Manchester Business School and the University of York where he completed his PhD in Management.

His research interests are in the area of organisational change and development, HRM and public sector management and reform. 

Alison's expertise includes smart grids and their protection and renewable integration, smart homes, wireless sensor network design, implementation & optimisation.

Alke is responsible for teaching first year students in creative studio-based disciplines how to research and write – a challenge tackled through highly visual and engaged sessions.

Alun's research interests cover the history of Russia and the Soviet Union and Central Asia; imperialism, colonialism, decolonisation, refugeedom, itinerance; nomadism,nationalism, state-building, urbanisation, memory and patrimonialisation.

Alyson is an interdisciplinary scholar of Public Policy, Leadership and Management Learning. She began her professional life in Healthcare Management (NHS and private sector) working in London and the South East, Midlands and North, before moving into Public Health and Community Regeneration as Development Officer for a Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Regional Umbrella Charity.

My research interests focus on improving health care communication in areas including: gerontology, pain management, visual impairment and sensory disability.

Anas's expertise is in smart technologies, wireless sensor networks, digital signal and image processing, mathematical modelling and simulation of engineering systems.

Postgraduate HRM Award Leader 

Andy joined Staffordshire University in the summer of 2015 after spending four years at Keele University whilst he completed a PhD in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. 

Before entering academia as a career, Andy had spent sixteen years working for the Ministry of Defence in Shropshire. Initially this was as an electrician but then having got involved with the trade union he became an elected representative. This role gave him an insight into employee relations that is invaluable in his teaching.

Dr Andrew Stubbs is Lecturer of Film, Media and Communication in the Department of Film, Media and Journalism. He teaches a range of subjects across Film, Television and Media, specialising in media industries and cultural production, Hollywood and independent film, television drama and pay-TV, media convergence, media regulation, media branding and marketing, authorship and stardom. 

I teach diagnosis and treatment as part of the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

I am the Project Module Leader and form part of the Risk Management module.

I studied for my BSc and PhD at Durham university and worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at Exeter, Leicester and Warwick Universities. I am an Associate Professor in Inorganic and Forensic Chemistry and have worked at Staffordshire University since 1986. 

Angela has a number of research specialisms, including Biochemistry of Haematophagous insect cuticular lipid, Semiochemicals in mating recognition and choice, and Mosquito biology with special interest in British mosquito ecology and behaviour.

I teach International Relations in the Modern Era; Global Policy Analysis and Money, Trade and Development. 

I am a Lecturer in Forensics at Staffordshire University 

I joined Staffordshire University as a KTP research associate on project examining diabetic footwear in October 2009. In 2006 I graduated from the University of Limerick with a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science. Following this I completed an MSc in biomechanics in Dublin City University. On finishing my MSc I worked for a short period with the CLARITY research centre in DCU and I also worked as a performance analyst for the Dublin Senior Gaelic Football Team.

Arthur is an experienced research scientist and higher education lecturer with an interest in molecular microbiology.

I am a lecturer in Law and my expertise lie in Internation Terrorism, Counter Terrorism and Counter Terrorism Policing, Anti Terrorism Law, Human Rights, Public Law, Business Law, Company and Commercial Law, Intellectual Property, Corporate Governance and International Trade Law. 

Bharati is the Course Leader for MBA and the Undergraduate Business Programs. She teaches across the undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes within the Business School.

Carolin has been working for Staffordshire University for a number of years in her capacity as a lecturer and Cisco instructor for Staffordshire University’s Cisco Academy. Carolin's area of expertise and teaching is mostly focusing on network communications. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Carolin is also acting as an academic advisor for partner institutions and also the Placement Year Leader for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Placements in Computing.

Catherine Prentice is currently an Associate Professor of Marketing, Director of Research at Griffith University, Australia, a director of Asia Pacific of Associations for Gambling Studies. Prior to her academic career, Catherine had worked in various industries as a business owner and as a senior corporate executive.

Dr Chris Gould has a PhD in Thermoelectric Technology and is an expert in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

I am a Professor in Forensic and Environmental Science. I specialise in forensic fibres analysis, mircoplastics and plastic pollution, hair analysis, paint analysis and glass analysis. 

Claire's current area of research centres on how psychological theories of educational engagement can inform the development and evaluation of educational initiatives.

I teach studio design, acoustics, studio production and electronics.

Dave's expertise include Natural History with a particular focus on Entomology and Malacology, and Invertebrate Mucus and FTIR spectroscopy 

I am a lecturer on the postgraduate and professional diplomas in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My research interests include Decision Making and Intuition, and Psychology of Spectating Sport. 

I am a Lecturer in Law at Staffordshire University.  

My enthusiasm for learning led me to qualify, design and deliver to initial and subject specialist teacher training courses. I have an interest in developing virtual learning environments to support learning. 

In July 2018, I was appointed as a Lecturer in Chemistry at Staffordshire University where I have taken on further roles including membership of the University’s Women’s Academic Network and Inclusion Group. I am a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Higher Education Group and passionately believe in the advancement of teaching innovation for the benefit of future generations of scientists in Chemistry and Forensic Science.

My research focuses on the experience of dementia and how this is shaped by relationships, social location and sociocultural factors. I teach on modules including Leadership, Dementia Awareness, and Healthy Individuals through the Lifespan.

I am the course leader for Terrorism, Crime and Global Security, Transnational Organised Crime and for Sociology and Social Justice Masters Degrees.

Most of my research has been within the areas of health promotion and health inequalities.

My background is in working with children, adolescents and families. I have worked for many years in a community-based early intervention children's service in Manchester city centre, so have worked with a great degree of complexity and adversity. I am interesred in the impact of trauma across the lifespan and am keen to discover more about how this impacts on pre-school children particularly. I have also worked within the area of parent infant mental health and would be keen to explore this further through research.

I joined Staffordshire University in 2018 having been a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Canterbury Christ Church University between 2014-2018.

I have a PhD in Sociology (Kent) and research and publish in the areas of political Islam, counter-terrorism, radicalisation, race, and Islamophobia. I would be interested to hear from prospective PhD students who would like to pursue a doctorate in these areas. 

I teach Counter Terrorism in the UKs ‘War on Terror’, Terrorism in the 21st century. I supervise the Masters dissertations for the Terrorism and Transnational Organised Crime Masters degrees.

Fiona's expertise is in international relations theory and international ethics. Her research interests cover international society, human rights and international criminal justice.

I am a Lecturer in Forensics and I specialise in Wet Powder Suspension systems which are used to develop latent fingermarks found at crime scenes. 

I am the Course Director for Postgraduate Psychology and I contribute to our Health Psychology programmes (MSc and Professional Doctorate). I am a Chartered Psychologist (BPS) and a HCPC registered Health Psychologist. I am interested in health inequalities and the social and environmental determinants of health and I have conducted research using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Gill leads the Professional Doctorate in Education

I am a Professor in Forensics and My research expertise lies in Body Fluid Identification, DNA interpretation, and Forensic Epigenetics.

Hamidreza's expertise lies in conventional and renewable clean energy conversion technologies including carbon capture, thermofluids and more.

Hamidreza is also course leader for the Mechanical Engineering MSc. 

Having worked in higher education since 2003, in recent years Helen has become involved in firearms research including projects for the European Union and United Nations. She has a strong interest in prisons, justice and rehabilitation having worked in the criminal justice sector, including Her Majesty’s Prison Service.

I am the Module Leader for Risk Management. 

Dr Ijeoma Onwumere joined Staffordshire Business School as a Lecturer in Marketing in 2019. Prior to the commencement of her academic career, Ijeoma worked with Standard Chartered bank, Santander Bank, and a few NGOs on diverse social projects in Nigeria and UK.

Dr Jacky Forsyth is a Senior Lecturer in exercise physiology. She conducts a wide range of leading research around women in sport and exercise, and specialises in the relationship between ovarian hormones, exercise and health.

Her research into the differences in fat oxidation between males and females after high intensity interval exercise was used in the BBC One documentary, The Truth about Fat.

Through her work at Staffordshire University and beyond, Jacky wants to inspire more females to work and study in sport and exercise, and tailors her teaching to ensure all her students are 100% work ready when they leave.

I'm a Lecturer in Psychology.

My research interests are in exploring health risk behaviours, particularly those which have potentially negative, identity implications, such as sunbed tanning. 

Jenny came into academia following eighteen years of working in the public sector (including Local Government, Social Services, the Probation Service and the NHS).

She made the decision to go to university as a mature student in 1997, initially as a way of qualifying to train as a Probation Officer. Before coming to Staffordshire University in 2005, Jenny worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and then as an Associate Lecturer at Keele University, where she completed her PhD.  

Jo has over twenty-five years’ experience of working in the education sector. She began her career as an Early Years and KS1 teacher and worked in a variety of schools including a small 2 teacher village school to a large infant school where she was a member of the senior management team.

Jo also worked for Cheshire Local Authority where she managed a team of early years consultants during the Sure Start Children’s Centre initiative.

Prior to joining Staffordshire University in January 2020, Jo was a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Met University. She has taught and supervised students on a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate childhood and education degree programmes.

Jo’s research interests are focused around professional identity, curriculum policy and implementation and pedagogy. Jo is also Chair of Governors at a Large Junior school which is part of a Multi Academy Trust.

I joined Staffordshire University in 2017 as senior lecturer and undergraduate course leader for Criminology and Sociology having been senior lecturer and programme leader for Criminology at the University of Chester between 2012 and 2017.

I teach Advanced Criminal Theory in the Criminology Masters. I also teach on the Transnational Organised Crime Masters and supervise the dissertation for this course and the Terrorism Masters. 

I have been a lecturer in Forensic Science at Staffordshire University since 2007 although I have been involved with research and teaching in this area since 2003. I am actively involved in forensic science research my area of expertise is forensic chemistry, particularly drug analysis and profiling.

I am a Senior Lecturer in Law, with expertise in Public Law and Legal Theory. 

Lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate Esports

I joined Staffordshire University as a senior lecturer in January 2012. My research interests are in the areas of cognitive neuropsychiatry and cognitive neuropsychology.

I am an Associate Professor and Lecturer in Law, specialising in Research Supervision and Project Management, Regulatory aspects of Employment/Human Resource Management and IT-enabled teaching. 

Kevin’s research explores the environmental impacts of aerial pollutants and toxic metals. He is also interested in the public understanding of science.

My research has focused on issues around widening participation and the learning experience of young people and adults, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I am the course leader for MSc Forensic Science and MSc Digital Forensic Investigation and I primarily teach in the areas of forensic anthropology and statistics.

Since finishing my doctoral research at the University of Sheffield in 2012, I have worked in commercial archaeology as both a field worker and an osteoarchaeologist and acted as a temporary Lecturer in in Archaeology at the University of Nottingham from 2013-2014.

My research focuses on the analysis of cremated human bone and what it can tell us about burning conditions from both archaeological and modern contexts.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Police and Criminal Investigation at the University of Central Lancashire. I continued studying and completed a masters in Criminal Investigation, then a Ph.D in Evidence Based Policing.Following my studies, I was employed as a researcher; involved in Policing research projects, collaborating with Police Forces and their partner agencies. I was also seconded to Lancashire Constabulary’s Evidence Based Policing team. I moved to Staffordshire University in 2017 and became course leader for the Professional Policing degree in 2018.

I am a Lecturer in Policing with an academic and research background. I have been involved in a number of research projects focusing on mobile phone use by drivers, police legitimacy and procedural justice. 

My expertise is within Health Psychology and conducting research employing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.

I teach Introduction to Creative Writing, Poetic Writing, Long Poem, Text Art/Visual Poetry, and Experimental Writing.

My interests are broadly in the area of attention and memory. I'm particularly interested in how human emotion influences attention and memory performance. 

I have 25 years teaching experience in further and higher education. For much of this time I've been involved in leadership, management and curriculum development within FE and HE.

Mani has been a senior Lecturer in the Psychology department at Staffordshire University since 1997.  Current research interests include the effects attachment has on cognitive and social development and the effects of context on the development of different skills and learning and teaching.

As well as being Course Leader for English and Creative Writing, I teach on First Year core modules and American literature modules on Crime Fiction, the Contemporary, Modernism and Beat Writing. I also supervise MA and PhD students.

Matthew is a senior lecturer (FHEA), researcher, published author, and chartered psychologist (CPsychol). He specialises in the psychology of leadership and team functioning.

I am a specialist in contemporary literature, in particular ecocriticism and postcolonial literatures.

Mike's research interests are focussed on the promotion of effective teaching and learning within the primary classroom and the overcoming of potential barriers. Mike is currently working on research which examines notions of respect from the primary teacher’s perspective and how primary based nurture groups are perceived by children and parents within differing socio-economic areas.

I've been involved with a number of research projects relating to physical activity and mental health, green space and health; health in mid-life; sport and mental health in prisons.

Dr. Nebojsa Stojcic is an associate professor and a researcher with interest in topics from industrial economics, economics of innovation and urban and regional economics. His current research focuses on transition of middle income countries from production towards innovation driven growth in the age of digital transformation.

Neil’s expertise is in analytical chemistry developed in the area of environmental science.

He is module leader for Basic Chemical Concepts, Vehicle Collision Investigation and Environmental Forensics and is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Nikki’s research interests are mainly within the realm of environmental psychology, individual differences and impact of visual beauty, such as art or the physical spaces in which we spend time. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary working to explore these ideas from different perspectives and in applied ways.

Olushola joined Staffordshire University in 2019 and has experience of working in banking, professional accountancy service, retail management and higher education. His expertise include merger & acquisition, banking, business advisory, management and financial accounting.

My current role is focused on applied research in the fields of musculoskeletal biomechanics and medical devices and among others involves identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant applications and participating in industry-led research projects. 

Paul is a cultural geographer with research interests focusing on environmental engagements, low carbon living and working, and qualitative research methods.

I am a Lecturer in Forensics.

Peter's expertise includes dementia studies, ageing and religion and religious communities and their role in health promotion.

Peter is researching elderly social care as part of an international team and is also the university’s Coordinator for NHS Research Ethics and Acting Head of the Graduate School.

I am a Lecturer in Law, specialising in Family Law, Law and Disability and SEND, Equity and Trusts, Quantitative Methodology, Comparative Methodology and Professionals and Mandatory Reporting. 

I am an Associate Professor (Tef) and I specialise in forensic firearm identification and ammunition, ballistics imaging, and shooting incident reconstruction. 

I’m one of the directors of this course. My areas of expertise are healthy eating, dietary change and psychological aspects of diabetes.

My research interests mainly lie in children’s use and understanding of representation, particularly in their making and understanding of pictures.

Robert's research background is in the areas of sport and clinical biomechanics. The focus of his research is on the application of non-linear data analysis techniques to quantify movement coordination and coordination variability. Robert's research interests include clinical gait analysis, understanding the biomechanical demands of exercise and athletic movements, weightlifting, football, and data visualisation and reporting. 

Romina's research interests are focussed on symbolic development as it relates to pictures and occupational gender stereotypes.

Russell started at the University in 1990, studying a BA, then MRes, and finally a PhD before going into full-time teaching. He currently runs the Department of Computing. Previously he has managed the Information Systems group at Stafford before this was separated to form a new academic grouping.  

Samanthika completed her doctoral degree at the University of Nottingham Business School in 2018. Her research interest is in the area of consumer behaviour particularly focusing on transformative consumer research, social marketing, health and well-being, consumer emotions and identities. She has experience working in both academia and industry in the UK, Australia and Sri Lanka.

I am a lecturer in Quantitative Research Methods and Statistics in the Psychology Department at Staffordshire University.

Sarah's research has focussed on children and adolescents. Her PhD explored the effects that writing about stressful experiences has for early adolescents and why written emotional disclosure may not be a suitable intervention for them. 

I am a Senior Lecturer and I specialise in fingerprints and their use as forensic evidence. 

I am a critical psychologist interested in critical approaches to social and health psychology. My research interests are primarily around analyses of discourse and voice, particularly in the context of sexism/gender and social policy. 

Sarah’s area of expertise is in investigative interviewing strategies used with children and subsequent legal proceedings.

She is module leader for Forensic Applications of Psychology.

Sarah has had a lengthy (and happy) career in Primary Education with robust experience of teaching across the entire primary age range in mixed and single age year groups and in a variety of different schools and areas. She moved to Staffordshire University in 2013 to lead the Primary PGCE Core Award and the Primary School Direct Award and is also a supervisor on the Doctorate in Education.

Sarah is passionate about the arts and gained degrees in both History of Art & Design and Business Studies before studying Education in a Museum setting at the V&A Museum and the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She also worked in stage and costume design in the USA and as a Children’s Books Buyer before training as a teacher in 1996. She currently campaigns to raise the profile of the Arts in Primary Education and has edited and co-written a book; “Teaching the Primary Foundation Subjects” with Open University Press. In 2011 she joined Edge Hill University to lead the Foundation Subjects Team and now leads the foundation subjects and the Primary PGCE at Staffordshire University.

Sarah is passionate about social justice and gender equality and believes that education is the key to improving these. She has a Masters’ Degree and Doctorate in Education. Her research is primarily focused around developing more creative and inclusive methods of qualitative research including storytelling and arts-based research, such as the award-winning Plastic Ceiling Project, which was exhibited at Tate Liverpool in 2018. She has published and presented at international conferences on the challenges of juggling work and motherhood and has acted as a qualitative research consultant for the research arm of the NHS.

Sarah is a developmental psychologist with a particular interest in the influence of education on the development of children’s creative abilities. Her other areas of research expertise are the effect of television on children’s behaviour and university student’s engagement with feedback.  

Sarah rejoined Staffordshire University as a lecturer in developmental psychology in September 2014. Prior to this she has spent time working at Keele University, the Open University and in the NHS as an assistant psychologist. Her roots are at Staffordshire University though as this is where she studied her Undergraduate degree and more recently a PhD in psychology. 

I joined the team here at Staffordshire University in May 2013 as a Lecturer in Biomedical Science. I'm a member of the British Society for Immunology and the Association for Clinical Biochemistry.

Simon's expertise covers EU-NATO Cooperation, transatlantic security and European and US defence transformation.

His research interests include transatlantic security and reforming European defence and the defence and security implications of an independent Scotland.

Sita's research interests are in the politics of South Asia, particularly India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Politics of international migration and refugee movements. Security Studies, particularly migration and security, and the 'War on Terror' and it impact. Publications include articles on Indian politics and various aspects of international migration.

I am the course leader of Distance learning Sport and Exercise Psychology BSc (Hons) degree programme. I also have teaching responsibilities across undergraduate and postgraduate awards in the area of sport and exercise psychology.

Steve arrived at Staffs in September 2018 having previously lectured at Warwick and Keele Universities.

He teaches across a wide range of HRM-related programmes including the year 1 Human Capital Management module.

Syed joined Staffordshire University as a lecturer in Accounting and Finance in 2017. His area of research includes topics in corporate governance, corporate finance, financial accounting, and behavioural finance. Syed is a member of British Accounting and Finance Association, American Finance Association and International Corporate Governance Society.

Tom is a Lecturer in Sport, Physical Activity and Health in Staffordshire University’s Sport and Exercise Department. Tom’s research investigates health inequalities in socially deprived areas and evaluation of the sport-based programmes which aim to address these inequalities. His research also examines the policies which intend to achieve sporting and non-sporting outcomes along with various aspects of the policy process. To date, Tom has predominantly worked in partnership with football in the community charities to conduct his research and utilities a sociological perspective to support greater understanding of the complexities faced when enacting sport policy and funded programmes.

Tolu currently lectures on a range of topics primarily focused around the areas of economics, business strategy, entrepreneurship and international business. He is also the Course Leader for the MSc International Business Management course.

Tolu has industry experience both as a banker and an entrepreneur. He holds a BSc in Economics, MSc in International Economics, and a PhD in Management (Economics).

Tony's expertise is in Northern Ireland, intelligence and security studies, archive research, conflict resolution.

His research interests include Irish foreign policy, British foreign policy, intelligence history, 
terrorism, security studies and decolonisation.

Ying Ying has been working as a full-time lecturer in Games Studies at Staffordshire University since 2017, teaching modules including Esports and Competitive Gaming, MMOG Design Communities and Narratology, New Developments in Games, History of Games Technologies, Fundamentals of Gameplay, Narratology for Games and Computer Games in the Workplace and Society. 

Yvonne's main research interests relate to attachment relationships, developmental trauma, applications of clinical psychology in social care contexts and psychological issues pertaining to Looked After Children and adopted children. 

Zachary joined Staffordshire University in 2019 as the course leader for the MSc of Foundations in Clinical Psychology.

In 2016 Zachary completed his PhD and graduated in 2017. Since 2014 he has taught research methods and since 2016 he has worked in universities in the UK as a lecturer teaching on mental health and psychotherapy/counselling programmes.

I am the Course Lead for the MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology. I have two research focuses. These focuses are: Therapist drift in the treatment of anxiety/trauma; and, the use of virtual/augmented reality in developing effective and efficacious treatments. In addition, I have experience as a CBT therapist, applied behaviour analyst, and working in various clinical settings.

Janet’s current research focuses on the origins and characteristics of quartz silt within weathering profiles; the soiling, degradation and weathering of sandstone buildings; micro-landform development and slope evolution on exposed salt rocks in eastern Spain and the development of sustainable, low energy building products.

Lecturer in Human Resource Management

Ed has a proven track record designing best selling ranges for hotels and restaurants worldwide, with over 5 million products sold, from Hilton to Harvester and everything in between. Ed is interested in the intersection of craft pottery and modern technology.

In 2019 Edward was awarded a master’s in teaching and learning with distinction from the University of Birmingham and was also awarded a master’s in clinical trials with distinction from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he now occupies the position of Clinical Trials Distance Learning Tutor. Edward is now currently working towards his PhD at the University of Wolverhampton, where his work focuses on the influence of exercise/physical activity during the treatment continuum in women with breast cancer.

Elliott has had 3 years’ experience in the video game industry in roles such as environment art & outsourcing, and has worked as part of a team for studios such as Lockwood Publishing, Eurocom & Sony London Studio. 

As an experienced and effective classroom teacher of Geography, I have taught all age and ability ranges at KS2, 3, 4 and 5. I have experience of managing a Geography Department and working as a school-based mentor.

Emma has experience of teaching across the entire primary age range and her career in Primary Education includes extensive experience of special needs. Emma gained the SENCO qualification and has worked in a mainstream school leading on SEND, and a Special Needs setting. 

Emma has experience of leading pupil premium, EAL and a range of other subject areas and has worked in partnership with the Local Authority as a Learning and Behaviour Consultant providing support for schools across Staffordshire, and more recently as Head of Service for the Governor Support Service and School Improvement Service. 

Emma moved to Staffordshire University in 2019 to lecture in Primary Education. She is an advocate of inclusion and opportunities for all pupils and is passionate about ensuring education in our schools is as inclusive as it can be to support learners to reach their full potential. 

Euan Wilson: Has been a lecturer for over 20 years in the information systems domain and has changed specialisms as the education market and computing discipline has changed over the years. He has a wide knowledge of developing and running awards, and currently specialises in Data Analytics and Database Systems. Allied to his work in the UK he has worked with several of our international partners as both a lecturer and advisor. Euan is also an examiner for the BCS (British Computer Society).

After a career in banking and consultancy, Fatimah began her career in higher education over 25 years ago. She has taught in higher education institutions in Australia, Malaysia and the U.K and has been involved in teaching abroad for the University's franchised international partners in China and Malaysia. 

Fatimah teaches modules on the MSc Digital Marketing Management, MSc International Business Management and MBA courses. 

Fiona is a Senior Lecturer and Producer, with a background as a factual documentary producer/director and television studio producer. Fiona has a background in print journalism, BBC radio and television including BBC1, ITV1, ITV2, Channel 4, STV, History Channel, and Sky.

Fiona's expertise covers Special Education Needs (SEND), the history of education, behaviour management, safeguarding, and the deployment and practice of support staff in schools. She teaches the module on Safeguarding.

Fiona has always lived and worked in Staffordshire. She graduated from Staffordshire University in 1992 with a degree in Information Systems. She went on to work for the NHS, Stafford College and started teaching at the University in 1999. She has been an external examiner for Sheffield Hallam, worked with the Open University on some of their validation events, and given talks on web development and getting girls into computing. She is enthusiastic about the web and web standards, and the idea of Progressive Web Apps. She speaks regularly at the local StaffsWebMebMeetUp group

Graham graduated from North Staffordshire Polytechnic in July 1988 with a First Class Honours degree in Computing Science with French, winning a prize for best student on his course. After graduating, he worked as a programmer in a computing centre of one of Britain's largest banks. He has worked as a lecturer and senior lecturer at Staffordshire University since March 1989, having lectured in Software Engineering. He also holds an MSc in Professional Computing with distinction from Staffordshire University. His dissertation examined the use of Java Enterprise Edition and EJB 3.0 to implement systems specified with the JSD (Jackson System Development) method. He has also been involved in a wide range of consultancy projects, using his expertise in Software Engineering to the benefit of business, industry, and other organisations.

Hazel is a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and has expertise in management within an education setting, leadership and management, and organisational behaviour.

Her research interests include leadership and management, and the ageing workforce.

Heather's research interests include babies, children and young people in hospital, their welfare, emotional well-being, education and how these impacts on the family situation. 

Helen is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register and a Senior HEA Fellow.

She teaches on modules including Clinical Skills, Competent Adult Nurse and Professional Values, Attitudes and Behaviour.

Helen has a fond love of shoes and has focused her expertise and knowledge into the function of shoes and the impact on foot mechanics and development of deformity. She also has a strong interest in human mechanics and the development of injury and long term dysfunction, particular interest is focused on the lower limb and the relationship between multidisciplinary models evaluating more than one variable and the contrast of the impact this has on the individual.

After graduating from Derby University in 2007, Holly formed a strong knowledge of industry standards and gained experience covering all elements from fabric testing, and digital and manual pattern cutting. After visiting and liaising with factories across the world, she started her own brand in 2011. Holding a real passion for sharing her skill set, Holly enjoys encouraging others to expand their knowledge. 

Hugh trained in Transport Design, and has in-depth industry experience working across a range of sectors including automotive, product, building and toy design. He is cluster lead for the Design courses, and link tutor for our franchise courses in Malaysia.

I am a former police officer and served for over 34 years as an officer both in Staffordshire Police and Nottinghamshire Police. I reached the rank of Assistant Chief Constable and served at this level with both forces as well as the Home Office. The bulk of my service was spent serving the communities of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire.

Ian is a professional sports journalist and PR practitioner who has worked for every Sunday and daily national newspaper in the UK. He was also Head of Media at Stoke City FC for five years before switching to academia.

My expertise is within clinical pathology laboratories and the use of biomedical investigations in the diagnosis and investigation of disease.

I'm Module Coordinator for Professional Practice for Biomedical Scientists and Cellular Pathology.

Ian is the course Leader for MA Sports Journalism and BA (Hons) Sports Journalism. He's been a freelance national newspaper sports journalist for over 30 years and is currently under contract with the Times and Sunday Times newspapers.

James started out as an Engineering apprentice at the age of 16, developing his practical skills alongside academic qualifications. He has held several lead design engineering positions across the UK within international companies. Later in life he trained to teach within FE colleges and advanced into lecturing at the University. As a practising engineer he used his skills to apply computing to real life situations. His computing expertise includes - Real time Systems, Programming, Hardware interface, and Electronic Design.  In terms of research he is investigating Micro-controllers, AI, Industrial Control, Robotics, and Biometrics.

Jamie's research is broadly focussed on the areas of social identity and stress. He is particularly interested in the psychophysiological reactions to a pressured situation (e.g. sporting performance, exams, presentations, interviews) and how we can use research findings to help inform better coping strategies. 

Jamie is a lecturer (FHEA), and PhD researcher. He specialises in the psychology of performance under pressure and group dynamics.

Jan is a visual effects artist as well as an active researcher in real-time visualisation and technology. His main area of interest is the capture and transfer of ‘live camera’ data and its implementation using real-time rendering.

I am a Lecturer in Policing, specialising in Strategic Leadership, Strategic and Operational Command in Policing and Misconduct Investigation. I am a former Police Officer, having served in both uniform and plain clothes in a wide variety of roles. I retired in June 2017 as the Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police.

Janet has been lecturing in the field of Information Systems at Staffordshire University since 1999. Additionally, she is heavily involved in the specification and management of work-based and distance learning awards, with particular interests in Foundation Degrees and apprenticeships. The quality assurance of delivery at partnerships is also a key aspect of her role.

I'm currently involved in all aspects of teaching on the Secondary PGCE courses.

Jessica is a Manchester-based artist. Her practice involves sculptural interventions that often occupy uneasy spaces. She's currently curating GLINT; an online project that documents the circumstance of inspiration of 12 artists.

Jim Pugh is Head of Education here at Staffordshire University. I am responsible for several courses within the School of Social Work Allied and Public Health, including Paramedic Science, Operating Department Practice (ODP), and Osteopathy.

This online award is aimed at active, busy coaches who wish to up-skill their coaching knowledge and competencies to position themselves at the forefront of effective coaching practice.

John is Course Leader for Graphic Design (Graphic Communication). He has worked as a Graphic Designer in a number of International studios with clients such as the BBC, Nike, Sony and The Design Council. He has spent the last decade working and studying as a Freelance graphic designer and design educator.

Dr. John Wheeler has expertise in Supramolecular Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.

Judy began her career in organisational and occupational psychology, but now specialises in criminology and forensic psychology.

In her current role, Judy is interested in the student experience, and understanding perceptions of barriers to success in Higher Education. Her research interests lie in forensic psychology, with a particular focus on the motivation to deceive in police interviews.

I am a lecturer in Forensic Investigation and Forensic Science. 

Julie has an extensive experience in advice work practice having worked for over 10 years in welfare rights and welfare benefit appeals. She is an experienced lecturer currently teaching on a number of modules including social welfare law & community care, equality and diversity and legal theory and practice.

I am a Lecturer in Policing and was a Police Officer for 31 years, retiring as a Chief Superintendent in 2014. I was responsible for local policing in the north of Staffordshire

Justin has worked for the University for a number of years as a Senior Lecturer in Networking.  He is a member of the university's CISCO teaching team and has a wide set of experiences within this field, and has mostly specialised in the area of routing and switching.  He also takes a lead role in teaching the AWS (Amazon Web Services) curriculum. He himself holds an MRes in Distributed Computing, and many CISCO qualifications, as well as a PhD titled ‘The Efficient Storage and Supply of Data within a Cellular Framework for a Variety of Mobility and Usage Patterns’.

Karen’s interests are in student placement learning, orthopaedic nursing and the student experience. She completed her Masters’ degree dissertation on student nurses with dyslexia in clinical practice.

Karen is Practice Learning Allocation Lead and is a Senior Higher Education Academy Fellow.

Karen is a Registered Operating Department Practitioner who has worked within the perioperative environment in both the NHS and independent sector since 1991.

Karen teaches modules covering anaesthetics, recovery, medical law and ethics.

Course Leader for Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and with a background in Training and Assessing in Digital Marketing and Digital Media, Kathryn has worked on several Digital Marketing projects, consulting in strategic decisions for SME’s and building lasting links with businesses.

I'm a Lecturer in Education and Course Leader for the PGCE Art and Design.

As well as clinical work I have a longstanding interest in training, having been a clinical tutor for three years, and have designed and delivered training for several universities as well as for non-NHS organisations.

I teach across a wide spectrum of courses, all involving counselling approaches to psychology. I'm interested in what motivates people to train in therapeutic work, and how the training process impacts upon them and their relationships.

Having started life as an apprentice engineer, I moved into Policing in my mid-twenties. I served with West Midlands Police and the National Crime Squad and became a specialist in pro-active paedophile investigation.

Following retirement, I worked for the Ministry of Justice until I was offered a position in Staffs Law department in May 2016.

After 20 years working in various development roles from small projects to some of the earliest e-commerce systems, Kelvin formalised his skills as a mature student in the late 1990’s and subsequently joined the team at the School of Computing in 2001. Since then he has principally delivered the key software engineering modules at all levels from HND to post graduate.

A long-time gamer and esports enthusiast, Kevin has over seven years' experience within the esports industry and more than three year's in live broadcast production.

Kevin actively creates student links to industry to increase their network and employability alongside following the journey of esports as it grows and develops.

Kevin has directed and published archaeological projects throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and holds over 20 years’ experience in research and professional archaeology. For the past eight years, Kevin has also worked on many forensic research projects throughout Europe associated with the Holocaust.

Diana's research interests include Industry 4.0, Surface 7 Geometry Metrology ,2D & 3D Surface parameters and the effect of surface topography on automotive tribological systems.

Lance's research interest include Russian foreign and security policy, intervention, responsibility to protect and peacekeeping, European security governance, Institutionalism and defence cooperation (with a focus on the Anglo-American relationship).

Laura has been a lecturer at Staffordshire University since 2004. Actively involved in research in forensic science, she also conducts consultancy in the examination of evidence of a biological origin.  

Laura's areas of expertise include DNA analysis, body fluid identification, bloodstain pattern analysis and analysis of other biological evidence.  

My research interests are in the field of counselling mostly related to working with children with attachment difficulties and the impact of trauma on the body and the brain. 

Lou's expertise covers strategic development for regional creative industries and networking event organisation. Lou also has a background in community practice and widening participation.

I have worked for Derbyshire Constabulary before becoming Head of the Roads Policing Unit and Detective Inspector for Derby City Centre.

My areas of expertise were homicide investigation, suspicious deaths and Criminal Justice.

Louise is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a registered nurse.

She teaches modules on law and legislation for pre-registration nurses & paramedics and Operating Department Practitioners. Louise is also a Magistrate.

I teach computer sound, advanced Pro Tools techniques, modern composition and music software design.

My nursing background is in gynaecology and genitourinary medicine and I've been working in academia, initially as a researcher and then as a senior lecturer, for the past 13 years.

I lead on modules that provide a full range of screenwriting skills, from writing silent films to literary adaptation and the development of original feature film scripts.  

Mark was one of the first Emergency Care Practitioners in the country and has experience of working in both pre-hospital and out-of-hours environments.

His modules cover areas including evidence-based practice and assessment and management of trauma.

I teach on the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Mary is a former Head Teacher of primary schools (4 in total over 25 years) and class teacher for 14 years before that.

She now works as an Education Consultant - School Development Partner and as a visiting tutor for Staffordshire University and is Chair of Governors of large primary school in Crewe.

Currently Mary is also a part time student working for her Diploma in Art and Contemporary Craft at West Dean College (Sussex Uni). She completed the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at West Dean in 2018 and was awarded the Trustees prize for the Creative Arts.

Martin teaches modern Italian and European history, local and community history and 18th Century English history, with an emphasis on social, cultural and political history.

Before working at the university, Martin worked at Lucas Aerospace in Wolverhampton as a graduate apprentice, then as a design engineer.

Matt is an internationally published author, illustrator, educator and designer. He is the creator of best selling picture book character series 'Bright Stanley'. Matt has worked for a wide variety of clients including the BBC, The Royal Collection, Macmillian Books, Oxford University Press and more.

Matt has competed and worked in esports for the past 16 years, playing Counter-Strike 1.5/1.6 semi professionally and competing at European LANs. He has worked for several endemic and non endemic brands & companies in esports and had roles across IP rights holders, tournament operators and game developers.

Matt was a Youth Justice Practitioner and is researching current Youth Justice Board strategic priority; trauma informed practice with children and young people who offend.

Matt also holds national and international positions with awarding bodies on Health and Social Care qualifications and has received awards from the Joint Qualifications Council for this work.

Maxine is a registered mental health nurse and has worked in a variety of settings since 1999. Her research interests include therapeutic alliances, the diagnosis and label of psychosis and the subject of personality disorder.

Mayowa is a Certified Chartered Accountant and started his career as a Senior Finance Officer and Audit/Tax consultant in public and private sectors respectively. He has expertise in cash flow, financial reporting, auditing, financial markets, taxation and management accounts. Micro-soft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Accounting Softwares.

I am the course leader for the Doctor of Business Administration.

Mel’s research interests include legal and criminological psychology and the impact of psychology in E-learning and the web.

She is module leader for ‘People Behaving Badly’, ‘The Psychology of Crime’, 'Psychological Contexts of Crime and Punishment', and ‘The Psychology of Crime & Criminal Justice’.

Mel studied for a degree in Animation at Norwich School of Art and Design followed by a Masters degree in Visual Communication, specialising in Animation. She started her career as a freelance editor and animator working for Granada TV, Channel 4, BBC News Gathering and World Affairs, Sony Broadcast UK before establishing the Production company Definitely Red and Creative Channel Network, producing animated shorts, documentaries and adverts for both the Broadcast and corporate sector both nationally and internationally.

Michael is a lecturer in Games Design as part of the Games and Visual Effects team. He runs four foundation awards, as well as working and researching in the field of games design and development, as well as education.

Michael’s practice involves sculpture, installation and site-related & responsive art. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. His most recent exhibitions have been ‘Migrant Objects’ (Bilbao, 2016) and ‘Finding Treblinka’ (Poland, 2016).

Mitch Pryce is a seasoned broadcast journalist having worked on four FIFA World Cups for ITV Sport, three Rugby World Cups, UEFA Champions League and the Olympics. He was formerly Sports Editor with Central ITV and has produced many TV sports series.

Mohamed Hassan is a lecturer in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security at Staffordshire University. He teaches on wide range of subjects in Digital Forensics, Cyber Security and Computer Science in general. He has many years’ of industry experience in a wide range of computing/IT fields, including Computer Security and Cryptography, Programming (C, C++, Bash, Awk/Sed Perl, Python, and Ruby), Computer Forensics, Embedded Systems, Kernel Internals, Operating Systems, Linux/Unix, Malware Analysis and Secure Programming. His current research explores the use of biology as a reference discipline that can provide meaningful insight and innovation in the Cyber Security domain.

Mohammad has worked as Lecturer and as Assistant Professor in the past. Now, he works as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing at Staffordshire University. He is involved in postgraduate research e.g. Masters by Research (MRes), PhD supervision, Erasmus project management for many countries, external examination for other universities, MSc course management, postgraduate and undergraduate teaching. 

Neil’s artistic research examines the manufacturing histories of North Staffordshire’s ceramic industry, and the effects globalisation has had upon people, place and traditional skills in recent decades.

A Staffordshire University graduate herself, Nia’s career has seen her previously listed as one of the Top 100 Women in Video Games by industry magazine MCV. Her research specialises in ways to understand and encourage games designers.

With a Masters degree from the Royal College of Art and over 20 years’ experience in industry designing anything and everything from homeware to automotive accessories, and underwear to packaging, Nigel also has 10 years’ experience in product development and brand management.

I am the module leader for CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing.

Olie has over 15 years’ experience in the industry working with freelance companies and broadcasters to develop, film and produce content. He is supported by a number of qualified and experienced staff with expertise in camera, studio, sound, editing production skills.

I joined Staffordshire University’s Law School in 2015 and currently lecture on the Legal Practice Course, specialising in Property Law and Practice, Drafting skills, Solicitor’s Accounts and Family Law and Practice. In addition to lecturing full time I am a qualified solicitor and mediator.

Paul trained on the BA Acting Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before going on to work extensively as a professional actor for ten years performing across theatre, television and radio. He then trained as a theatre director at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before going on to work as a freelance director and lecturer.

Paul is a Senior Lecturer and forms part of the Strategic Marketing Management module team, specialising in marketing and also covering entrepreneurship, business start-up/growth and turn-around. 

Prior to lecturing, Paul has over 25 years’ experience in various consultancies, including major consultancies, in the UK, France, Germany and USA. 

I am a specialist in the writing of contemporary fiction, particularly  the short story and also the novella and novel.

I'm the course leader for PGCE Computer Science.

Paul is a documentary photographer. He has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in Brazil, France, USA and South Africa.

Paul recently collaborated with a National Screening Programme with the BBC.

Paul is a lecturer who co-ordinates a number of different modules within the department of biology and in order to encourage student learning I develop different types of curriculum.

Paul developed his passion for film and moving image during the video boom of the 1980’s consuming a wide range of mainstream and more obscure and alternative films with a particular love of low budget B movie horror. His practical and technical interests led him to begin a career as a mechanical engineer and designer, working for major automotive brands such as Ford, Renault, Skoda and Jaguar. He changed career paths after producing video materials for automotive clients. Paul worked on a number of corporate videos before moving into factual production, and has since worked on numerous documentary programmes, short and long form films and personal filming projects.

Paul has an employment history that spans a number of years within the area of music management, exhibition design/build, festival management, project management, touring theatre management, film production, sponsorship/marketing and international sport event management. Paul also has a profile over the past ten years in five European countries lecturing at undergraduate and masters in Events Management.

Peter has more than 25 years experience in the film industry and in 2011 was co-founder of the spin out company Grand Independent – a film production and distribution company based in Staffordshire.

He began his career as a reader working for Hollywood studios including Universal and Columbia pictures and has sold original screenplays to the major studios as well as working as a writer on feature adaptations. 

He moved into producing with recent credits including Associate Producer on feature films The Perfect Burger (2009) and Soulboy (2010). He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and The British Kinomatograph, Sound and Television Society.

Philip’s expertise as a sport and exercise scientist, specialising at master’s level in Strength and Conditioning. Philip has many years of coaching experience in a wide range of sport, at all levels, up to and including international. His research focus is paediatric Strength and Conditioning.

Philip's expertise lie in all things web. Specifically; web programming, web standard, Agile development, ontologies and artificial intelligence and research. 

My areas of expertise include psychological research methods, sensory impairment and the psychological consequences of long term health conditions.

Professor David Etherington's academic career stretches over 30 years including more recently over 13 years at the Centre for Enterprise and Economic Development Research (CEEDR) Middlesex University

David is the course leader for Continental Philosophy. His expertise includes Modern European Philosophy, especially phenomenology, and French epistemology and philosophy of science (Heidegger, Levinas, Foucault, Serres, Bachelard, Cavaillès).

Douglas' research work is in the areas of Kant, Nietzsche, hermeneutics, and philosophy’s relation to the arts, especially literature, fine art and wine. I have also written on hermeneutic issues in political theory.

Professor Fang Zhao is a digital transformation strategist and a passionate researcher and business advisor in the areas of digital transformation and digital disruption. Her current research focuses on digital strategy in entrepreneurship and Smart Cities strategy and community engagement.

Professor Geoff Pugh has taught and examined at all levels in higher education, mainly in the areas of economics, applied economics and research methods (especially econometrics). He has supervised 30 PhD students to successful completion, published 47 papers in peer-reviewed journals in economics, public policy and business/management, and has more than 15 years' experience of leading external projects (including an EU Framework 7 project for DG Research).

My research interests lie in the area of policy and strategy in higher education, with a particular interest in access issues and the impact of globalisation.

At Staffordshire University, Professor Iraj Hashi has been the Senior Award Tutor for the undergraduate economics programme, post-graduate economics programme and, most recently, the Research Degree Programme (MPhil and PhD). He has also been actively involved in research, teaching and consultancy in transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe since 1992, and has worked with universities and research and consultancy institutions in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Macedonia, Poland and Russia.

I am acting course leader for the Criminology and Criminal Justice Masters. I teach on the Terrorism, Crime and Global Security and Transnational Organised Crime Masters degrees.

I teach aspects of ‘Human Identification in mass disaster situations' and elements of ‘forensic pathology’ and ‘forensic biology’ to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Professor Jon Fairburn is active in teaching, research, bid writing and public engagement. He has incorporated credited work experience into geography and tourism degrees as well as the MSc Digital Marketing Management. He has carried out research for many UK government agencies including the Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, Medical Research Council.

I’m one of the directors of this course. My research focuses on understanding how people cope with difficult health-related situations.

Liz is a Coach and Mentor, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Practitioner and teaches Counselling, Public Health and Communication Skills.

Liz’s research is focussed on perinatal mental health and health and social care education. She has authored over 70 peer reviewed publications, co-authored eight books and is an engaging after speaker, who has presented her research at over 100 national and international conferences.

As Professor of Clinical Biomechanics, I direct the Movement Analysis Laboratory and lead the biomechanics team and research at Staffordshire University. I am also an Affiliate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta and a Visiting Professor at the Department of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai.

Roozbeh leads the Professional Doctorate in Healthcare Sciences, an award within the School of Life Sciences and Education. As a Professor in Biomechanics, he has made seminal contributions to generating knowledge in the area of biomechanics since joining the University in 2009. He has contributed to several research programmes and led several research projects funded under FP7, Horizon 2020 and Innovate UK.

Professor Teck Yong Eng (PhD, University of Manchester, UK) is Professor of Business Enterprise and Analytics, Head of Henley Business School, University of Reading Malaysia. His methodological competencies and knowledge of big data analytics are well recognised in academia and industry where he had been a visiting professor of marketing, entrepreneurship and quantitative methods for European institutions, consulted for Business Monitor London and awarded a multi-million European Research Grants (ERC FP 7 framework) for a project on nanotechnologies.

Torfeh's expertise lies in plastic electronics, Photovoltaics, Experimental Physics, Electronic Material & Thin Films Technology and Optoelectronics.

I am the lecturer on both the Media Editing and Multimedia Applications, and Mobile Web and Multimedia modules.

Rachael graduated with a first class degree in Business Computing and Information Technology from Staffordshire University, before diving straight into teaching. Her experience and interests lie in the web, multimedia, and computing in schools and education.

Rachel set up her own fashion label which she sold in The Fashion & Textile Museum London. She is very interested in fashion communication and has worked on many collaborative projects, styling her own work and other designers’ work.

Rachel has worked as a photojournalist since 1994, and is one of the very few photographers whose career has focused on the documentation of the dance music revolution.

I'm a part-time Lecturer in Education and Course Leader for PGCE English.

Rebecca graduated from the Sports Therapy degree at Staffordshire University in July 2014 and is the current manager of the Staffordshire University Sports Therapy Clinic (SUST). Rebecca's expertise lie in Sports Massage, Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation and First Aid associated with emergency trauma.

Richard was Curriculum Leader for Drama, Performance and Scenography and Director of Learning and Teaching at the Department of Theatre, Film and Television at Aberystwyth University. Away from lecturing, Richard also works as a freelance theatre director.

Rob began his working life as a research and analytical chemist for the MoD, before moving to the NHS as a Network Manager. He’s interested in the application of digital forensic procedures in a number of diverse investigation fields.

Robert balances his work at Staffordshire University with that of being a freelance theatre director. His expertise is in the theory and practice of directing and acting, musical theatre and pantomime.   

I am the lecturer on the Programming and Web Applications module.

Ruth’s research interests explore parental bereavement in childhood, professionalisation of the Early Years workforce and technology to enhance teaching and learning.

She is a member of Staffordshire Early Years Professional Network.

Ruth is a GIS specialist. Her research interests lie in the fields of landscape ecology, historical geography, land use change and environmental information. Ruth is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Chartered Geographer in GIS.

Sallyann attended Staffordshire University as a mature student, gaining her LLB in 2010, before studying at postgraduate level and attaining her LPC qualification.

In addition to her teaching practice, Sally is also engaged in her PhD doctoral research which is focusing on Environmental Law, Agricultural Law and the crossover of Business and Consumer Law.  It will focus in the main on how consumer food purchases affect the Farmer and the Environment.

I have a wide range of experience supporting and teaching teachers in the lifelong learning sector. My main areas of expertise are in innovative teaching approaches and technology enhanced learning. 

I’m currently a high-intensity therapist who mentors and supervises trainees in the Seisdon area. I also provide teaching support assistance and course supervision.

Sarah is an award-winning reporter who’s worked on some of the country’s top regional newspapers. As Court Correspondent for the Liverpool Echo, she covered stories from the biggest combined court centre in Europe. She also spent four years as a Senior Press Officer for Greater Manchester Police.

Sarah spent the majority of her teaching career in primary schools in central London. Additional to her class teacher responsibilities she also had the role of subject leader for English and has specialised in this area of the curriculum for over 10 years. Sarah has also held Senior Leadership positions within school and had specific responsibility for developing a creative curriculum where good quality children’s literature provided the starting point for meaningful cross-curricular learning.

Upon leaving classroom teaching Sarah worked as an Advisory Teacher for the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education where she led professional development courses for teachers, teaching assistants and parents. A common theme running through the courses was on using creative teaching approaches alongside rich children’s literature to develop engaging learning experiences in English.

After CLPE, Sarah started in Initial Teacher Education and has held Senior Lecturer roles at Oxford Brookes University, Birmingham City University and now Staffordshire University where she taught on primary English modules on the undergraduate Primary Education with QTS degree and PGCE courses. Areas that are of particular interest to Sarah are children’s literature, using Lego to support storytelling and talk for spelling.

I began work as a Technical Skills Specialist in January 2014 alongside my studies on the part-time MSc Health Psychology award, of which I completed with a distinction in 2015.

I am a research active Criminologist with a professional background of working with offenders within the Criminal Justice System and in a strategic management position tackling poverty and inequality issues that link to crime.   

Sarah’s experience spans 22 years across both the education sector and in the production of creative work in both graphic design and illustration. Her research interests include embedding socially responsible design into the design curriculum, letterpress and experimental printmaking

Sarah's research interests are focussed on children with parents in prison and inclusion in big society. 

My main teaching areas and interests learning and assessment, collaborative working in education, culture and society, and research and study skills.

I am the award leader for BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development and deliver at all levels across my award and BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming. I developed a huge interest in computer games and technology from the late 80’s with the Nintendo NES, through the 90’s with the Sega Mega Drive and into the millennium with the latest iterations of the Xbox and PlayStation. Not just playing games but programming games. And not just game, websites, mobile apps and software too.

I have an interest in many aspects of community care and have developed particular expertise in palliative care and tissue viability through my experience as a district nurse.

Stephen’s expertise is in injury assessment, soft tissue therapy and Lower limb coordination & the relationship to chronic injury.

Stephen teaches on modules including ‘Rehabilitation Tools and Sports Massage’ and ‘Sports Therapy Practice’. 

Stephen’s teaching centres on broadcast programme histories and media performance, especially acting on television. His research interests include broadcast light entertainment and comedy, television drama, and children's programming.

I am the Tutor for the Digital Marketing Professional Diploma.

Steve's research titled, Personalising Learning – rhetoric or reality?, explores to what extent is personalising learning being achieved in terms of learners’ capacity to know themselves as learners and take strategic responsibility for their own learning. 

Steven is an award-winning editor, writer, photographer and digital media artist who has worked in the media for over 15 years. Steven's approach to teaching and learning is to create an atmosphere where students can adapt and personalise their work in line with their interests. Passionate about employability, Steven has co-created the Digital Content Creation course with a focus on emerging technologies and employer expectations.

Following a varied work background from setting up and running her own businesses to working for a global software company, Storm returned to University as a mature student completing an accelerated degree in Accounting and Finance. Her past positions incorporating accounting, business administration, leadership and management skills help to contextualise business theories and principles in her teaching.

With over 10 years’ of industry experience under his belt, Stuart has been teaching games development and 3D art and animation for more than 7 years now. He’s currently working with Unreal Engine 4 to develop a range of interesting, fun prototypes to develop into further courses.

Stuart worked on a wide range of industry projects before joining Staffordshire University, from Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids to the Harry Potter franchise and Aardman Animations’ The Pirates!

Sue has been designing for a variety of companies nationally for over twenty years. She regularly designs for The Stephen Joseph Scarborough and for Sixth Sense Theatre.

She has designed productions for Northern Broadsides/Dukes, Coventry Belgrade, Harrogate Theatre, Cheltenham Everyman, New Vic Stoke, Oldham Coliseum, Salisbury Playhouse, OTTC, Stroud Theatre Company, Spitz & Co, Kazzum, Reach Inclusive Arts and Action Transport.

Sue also works as an artist in schools leading design workshops and creating installations and large textile banners alongside regular teaching for the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Central St. Martins and Staffordshire University.

My professional experience includes working as a counsellor for the NHS, Douglas Macmillan Hospice and IMPACT & Aquarius alcohol agencies including counselling within the probation service.

I have worked in the clinical nursing and midwifery field since 1980 and currently maintain a small clinical practice within the contraception and sexual health arena.

Tara's research interests include mobile technology and the impact of apps in supporting HE students learning and development alongside academic resilience and self efficacy in part time mature HE learners. 

Tim Forrester is one of Britain's most innovative designers. He achieved great success during a period spent working in Milan & has now returned to the UK to continue designing & manufacturing his high quality, inspirational and versatile furniture ranges. 

Tim's research interests include: Glacial and periglacial geomorphology, Climate Change, Quaternary Environmental Change, The Ice Ages in Britain and Conflict Archaeology.

I have extensive expertise of working in the secondary and post compulsory sector as well as experience of teaching in Greece and China. I am also an external examiner for PGCE Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) courses.

Tomasz has obtained his MSc in Computer Engineering and is currently close to completing his PhD degree. He currently lectures in Computer Networks and Security at Staffordshire University. Tomasz is also a member of the university's Cisco teaching team and a qualified CISCO CCNA and CCNA Security instructor. 

I am a Solicitor, Senior Lecturer and Manager of the Staffordshire University Legal Advice Clinic. I specialise in Clinical Legal Education, Litigation and Employment Law. 

Trevor’s areas of interest include exercise physiology, Sports Nutrition, principles of training and in particular, drugs in sport.

He teaches modules in swimming, nutrition, the principles of training and drugs in sport.

Trust is a Lecturer in Molecular Biology. His research interests are on the effects of flavonoids on mammalian cells. 

Having spent 15 years as a senior HR Practitioner whilst teaching CIPD professional qualifications part-time, Vanessa joined the University permanently to further develop her academic career and to use her knowledge of the context of professional life to give students a better insight into the profession.

Vicky's background was originally banking and finance, where she worked in numerous roles throughout the UK, including corporate finance, securities, mortgage lending and international trade.  

Her interests have grown and developed over the years and she still retains an active interest in professional areas of business, following her transfer to the teaching and lecturing profession.

I am the lecturer for CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing.

William has worked on a number of forensic research projects throughout Europe, including sites of the Holocaust in Germany, Ukraine and Poland. Using non-invasive geophysical techniques, he has developed his specialism in the search and recovery of buried remains on sites of the recent past.

Yvan’s research in the area of computer gaming focuses on engines, rapid prototyping and AI systems. He works extensively with Epic's Unreal Engine 4 and the Unity 3D Engine.
