How Clearing works

If you want to secure a university place for this September, Clearing is the last stage in the admissions process.

Simply put, Clearing is when universities still have places left on courses, and students can apply to course vacancies from July to October.

It's important to note that some courses fill up fast, so we encourage you to apply through Clearing as soon as possible.

Is Clearing for me?

Many of our graduates started their student life through Clearing. It’s a common route into higher education and is used by a wide variety of students.

Whatever your background, wherever you see yourself in the future, you’ll find lots of opportunities through Clearing and our dedicated team will be on-hand to walk you through the application process.

Clearing is for you if:

  • You've changed your mind about what course to study or which university you want to study at
  • Your exam results are different to what you expected
  • You're deciding to apply to university now or may have missed the initial UCAS application deadline
  • You're thinking about doing a degree to switch careers or boost your qualifications
