Campus and facilities

University of Staffordshire London is more than just a campus; it is a lively ecosystem designed for the curious, the bold, and the ambitious.

Here, you will have the opportunity to learn from world-class experts, develop your skills in cutting-edge technologies, and build a network of lifelong connections.

Where We Are

We are based at Here East, within the grounds of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. The site was previously home to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Here East is now a centre for innovative, digital and creative businesses. Companies include Sports Interactive – which is behind the hit Football Manager game - design specialist D-Ford, high-end cinematography firm Hawk London, Plexal innovation centre and the museum V&A East.

What Makes Us Different?

Our London campus is designed in a radically different way to a traditional university. From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel like you are in a real-world business and tech environment, putting your skills into action. Work, study and social spaces are combined to create a buzzing atmosphere and next generation experiences.

Split into different zones spread across two floors, the area is ideal for collaborative work, creative sessions and personalised learning. It’s also a welcoming place where you can feel at home and get the support you need.

The building won the prestigious Innovation in Learning and Teaching Award at the 2020 Education Estates Awards. With industrial-style ceilings and an open plan layout, it’s packed with exciting features.

Production Warehouse

Our Production Warehouse is a hub of innovation and creativity, boasting a wide range of cutting-edge facilities that cater to a variety of study areas.

Step inside our Games Labs, where you'll find top-of-the-line dual-screen monitors and high-quality graphics cards that will bring your gaming and design ideas to life.

This is also where you’ll find our impressive gaming arena, an immersive space capable of hosting top-flight gaming events. With custom-designed lighting, a portable green screen kit for projects and a six-presenter desk, you can also test out your own games here.

Production Warehouse has breakout areas where you can relax on comfy sofas, use the kitchen facilities and store your personal items safely in lockers.

Then as you walk into the main teaching area, the room is divided into cool learning zones. There are glass pods for independent study, which double up as soundproofed spaces for recording podcasts or videos. There are also neon-lit signs and a games lab.

Data Junction

Housing our Computer Science and Cyber Security programmes, this mega-laboratory is truly ‘plugged in’ to the latest digital technology. Even the blue pipes which run round the edge of the space feel like pulsating data connections.

We have our own private, isolated network so you can test out scenarios and complete hands-on challenges. You can even ‘break into’ this network to learn all about ethical hacking - the expert role that helps companies identify vulnerabilities within their infrastructure.

The flexible learning space means it can also be shared by multiple classes at any one time. Students can put on headsets and listen to their individual lecturer. They can also collaborate and take part in live projects, reflecting industry practice.

Digital Loft

This is where nature meets technology. Inspired by the look of a New York loft apartment, there are plants dangling from the ceiling and growing up internal walls.

You can even book sessions in one of the funky ‘aviaries’ – metal-framed booths draped in wispy curtains. Inside, they contain seating and are ideal for students to present their projects to small groups.

Other features include the Knowledge Exchange lab where you can share your work on screen. And there’s The Stage, a glass box kitted out with VR and seating for student discussions.

The Digital Loft also hosts a range of services, including an academic hub, meeting rooms and a faith space. There’s a support hub too, where students can get information and advice on any personal, emotional or academic issues. Staff based here include the Wellbeing Officer and the Students’ Union Coordinator.

Reload Café and Students’ Union Zone

Located in the Digital Loft, this is a student-led café. Students who want a part-time job alongside their studies can work at Reload.

The retro gaming café is popular with students who want to chill out and chat with friends. Hot and cold drinks and food are available throughout the day, all at affordable prices. You can play a variety of gaming machines here.

The space is used for events as well, along with informal activities organised through our Students’ Union clubs and societies.
