The Psychology Children’s Lab

The Psychology Children’s Lab is a research facility which enables us to explore how babies and children develop.

The Children’s Lab makes use of our Psychology Observation Suite by allowing us to observe babies and children. We have a large selection of toys, which can be used to make the setting feel more homely and help researchers to build rapport with younger visitors. In addition, we have a range of equipment and tests suitable for assessing specific aspects of development, such as language development, theory of mind or children’s creativity and play. There is a camera system in place to facilitate recordings of research studies to allow further analysis of the behaviours displayed.

Furthermore, the toys and tests, along with portable video recording equipment, can be loaned out so that researchers can study children in their own school or home environments where appropriate.
