BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen

Introduction

Auditions are an essential part of the selection process for this course. Here, you will find all the information you need to prepare you for the audition.

It is also your opportunity to learn more about us, meet the teaching staff, see our facilities and ask questions that help inform your decision.

Preparing for your Interview Workshop

Applicants with the relevant entry requirements will be invited to an online meeting with one of the Course Team where we can discuss your skills and interest in the course.

This informal interview will be a good opportunity for us to learn about your previous experience of acting and performance, your interest in the course, passion and excitement for the subject and your future career aspirations.

We will also discuss the department’s wide ranging theatre/ film creative industry networks; the work-based learning and placement opportunities available; and the wider national and international links the department has established with leading professional actors, directors and designers and theatre groups and arts associations.

The interview will also provide a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the course and university life in general.

How the day will work

Please arrive at the Henrion Gallery 15 minutes before the start time to register.

A member of staff will collect and escort you to The Performance Centre where we will be holding our audition workshop.

You can expect to participate in different workshop activities (acting, voice or movement) which will give you the opportunity to get a really good feel for the course and to show us your readiness to engage in our course.

Useful advice for your Audition

We will be looking for people who are creatively open to the acting process.

We want to see that you are collaborative in nature, have an enthusiasm for your subject area and can commit to the kind of openness required to develop yourself as an actor.

Your personality is important to us. We want to see, and promise to try to find, the real you behind any nerves you may have. Don’t worry - we’re looking for potential, not the finished article. We aim to make the virtual workshop as enjoyable as possible so that you can relax and be yourself. We look forward to meeting you
