Applied Anaesthetic Care

Overview

Are you a Registered Nurse looking to expand your scope of practice? Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills to gain competence in delivering anaesthetic care. Working as part of the anaesthetic team, you will gain experience in the pharmacology of anaesthesia, contemporary equipment and medicine in use today, and the clinical skills you need to drive your career as a registered practitioner in the right direction.

During this module you will face practice-based challenges, building on your existing skills in respiratory and ventilatory support, haemodynamic monitoring, and blood gas analysis. You will gain experience in specialist techniques for ENT, obstetric and paediatric anaesthesia for use in the operating theatre.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have registered status (NMC) and must be employed in the operating department. Consideration may be given to registered nurses from other practice areas but they must be able to access supervised practice in the operating department in line with course requirements
