Managing, Leadership and Performance

Overview

This 3-week course introduces learners to the responsibilities of managing and leading people. It is designed to cover various learning outcomes of the Apprenticeship Standard for Operational/Departmental Managers.

Upon completing all units and the assessment, learners will receive 20 credits to go towards further learning.

 

Course Overview

Day 1:

AM session - Leading Others

  • Understanding the application of different leadership styles
  • Leading people in your organisation
  • Developing people using coaching and mentoring

PM session - Leading a High-Performance Culture

  • Organisational culture
  • A leader’s role in equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Creating an inclusive culture for your organisation and the benefits
  • Establishing an Employee Voice with two-way communication paths

Day 2:

AM session - Managing Relationships

  • Building Relationships
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Internal and external networking
  • Collaborative working techniques
  • Understanding and managing conflict

PM session - Managing High-Performance Teams

  • Effective recruitment and selection
  • Learning and development
  • Performance management, and developing high-performing teams
  • Delegation and delivery through others

Day 3: Online session for assessment
