BANKS OF ENGLAND - A Celebration of Gordon Banks OBE

The screening features Pelé, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Gordon Banks OBE himself – all together at this unique occasion of the Gordon Banks celebration at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday July 12th, 2008 - and filmed by Staffordshire Film Archive.

The celebrations of the achievements and career of Gordon Banks – leading up to the unveiling of his statue which now stands outside the Stadium - were enjoyed by thousands of people. All the key events of the day are here - including the Celebrity Match BRAZIL vs ENGLAND with teams of soccer stars and media celebrities with celebrity Managers Desmond Tutu, Pelé, Gordon Banks and actor James Nesbitt of Cold Feet.

And, of course, the Unveiling of the Gordon Banks Statue – with the the key speeches from Pelé and Desmond Tutu. There are interviews with Gordon Banks, James Nesbitt and other celebrities including the sculptor Andy Edwards. Also - the Press Conference and the Celebrity Press Conference. In addition, we see Gordon talking about his career at the Kings Hall reception.

Extras include unique film of renowned local artist Rob Pointon chatting with Gordon as he paints his portrait, plus extracts from interviews with Gordon over the years by Ray Johnson, Gary Kelsall and Simon Lowe of Action Sports International.
