The architect Cedric Price was a visionary concerned not only with design but also with current issues such as sustainability or the adaptability of the buildings. This year’s edition will focus on The legacy of the Fun Palaces: the performative architectures of Cedric Price and Joan Littlewood and will present the legacy and relevance of the Fun Palace in the UK.
The Fun Palace was an unbuilt project in London that challenged the way architecture engages with society and its cultural context. The Fun Palace was an interdisciplinary project developed by an architect (Price) and a Theatre director (Littlewood) in collaboration with the cybernetician Gordon Pask. In this second edition, we will review the project and its legacy from a contemporary lens, identifying and proposing opportunities for community engagement, place-making and regeneration.
