Advancing Women's Football through Optimal Practices

For continued success in women’s football, we need to both share our best practices, and apply cutting-edge, evidence-based, scientific information to maximise the performance potential of the footballer.

What is this event about?

In this free, one-day event, speakers will exchange their experiences and knowledge about how women’s football practices can be optimised, so that we can build legacies and secure the game for the future. Speakers will be a mix of researchers and practitioners, from a whole range of disciplines.

Who is it for?

This event is essential for anyone involved in women’s football, including coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists, sports scientists, coach developers, technical directors, general managers, governing body personnel and club owners from grassroots to elite level, as well as the footballers themselves.

Funding and background

This event is supported and funded by Erasmus+ Sport, being part of a larger project entitled “European Women in Sport – For an adaptive governance of women's sports practices” (E-WinS), which started in January 2021 and is due to end in December 2023. The overall aim of the project is to promote and accelerate the feminisation of Sport in European cultures through developing awareness and understanding of the specific problematics women encounter in their sport careers. This event will include a summary of the project findings.
