Industry Briefs

This semester, our ATD students are engaged in an exciting array of live projects in collaboration with top industry leaders.  Our second-year students are currently working with McLaren, following the successful completion of a project with LEVC. We’re also thrilled to be partnering with Michelin and WINCH, a renowned design firm specialising in superyachts, private jets, and architecture. Thanks to our modest class sizes, each student benefits from personalised, one-on-one contact with designers from these prestigious brands.

 

Superyacht UK Young Design Competition

This year marks the fifth consecutive year that the University of Staffordshire has won the Superyacht UK Young Designer competition, an impressive feat given our landlocked location. This achievement showcases how the University really is a place of possibility to achieve the extraordinary. second-year Automotive and Transport Design student Kasper Marriott claimed the prestigious undergraduate prize, despite having just completed his first year at the University of Staffordshire.

Hypercar Design 2044: A Catalyst for the Future Exhibition

The impressive results of the live brief set by McLaren Designer David Short have been exhibited at the University's Catalyst Building with a launch event drawing family, friends, and industry connections.  
Students designed a hypercar for 2044 through an intensive 2-week design sprint that utilised sketching, CAD and traditional model making skills.
