Adobe Photoshop Certified Professionals
Students from across the Photography degree have been given the opportunity to complete the Adobe Photoshop Certified Professional exam, alongside their core learning and practice.  As well as the accreditation, they also receive full access to the Adobe Creative suite for home use until the end of their studies.  We celebrate the students making the most of these additional activities on offer, and they bolster their learning on our industry-focused course.

Visiting Amsterdam, Photo Northwest Festival, Lydia Goldblatt workshop

Amsterdam trip
In Spring was a trip to Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands with an impressive artistic heritage.  Photography students from across all years of study were part of a wider Art and Design group, that also included Illustration and Graphic Design students.   Students explored a range of leading art & design agencies and galleries with expert curatorial talks.  Collectively they visited Huis Marseille, OSCAM, FOAM and Rijksmuseum.  This was a great experience to highlight current thinking in Photography and more importantly exhibition strategies.

Photo Northwest Festival Showcase on campus
We were proud to be one of ten universities chosen to host the Photo Northwest Festival Showcase.  Peter Dench presented his practice and gave our students advice regarding breaking into photography and sustaining a career.

This was followed by a short presentation about Photo North Festival highlighting the importance of building our creative identity.

More guest speakers and workshops: Lydia Goldblatt
L5 and L6 students have for the entirety of their studies so far, worked together with visiting speakers to better understand the function of the Photobook (narrative, sequence, pace and design).  We did this again in February with the amazing Lydia Goldblatt.  This was followed by a workshop and talk from insightaware.org.  The representation of others and ways in which photography can be used to empower individuals and groups were explored.

Photobook sessions with the brilliant Lydia Goldblatt.
