Fashion Highlights Home Features Fashion Highlights Gen Z live brief, inspirational visits, and virtual reality A study visit: Liverpool Walker Gallery, viewing the exhibition, 'Conversations' by leading Black women and non-binary artists Live Brief: Working with 'DougieMac'Our talented Level 5 Students completed a live industry brief with local hospice provider and retailer Douglas Macmillan (Dougie Mac). The result is a sustainable design and marketing campaign. Their work culminated in a presentation evening at the Catalyst Gallery in which family and friends attended to see the work in person. 4 students were also recognised for their impressive Gen Z focused design and marketing briefs with prizes, along with invitations to complete work placements with the charity.The collections, accompanied by modeled shots created by BA (Hons) Photography students, will will be exhibited within the university in the UniCube, before going on tour in shop fronts across the county.Read more Inspirational study visitsFashion students have recently been on trips to nearby Manchester and Liverpool visiting exciting exhibitions including; ‘Unpicking Couture’ at Manchester City Art Gallery. ‘Conversations’ at the Liverpool Walker Gallery and ‘The Holly Johson Story’ at the Museum of Liverpool. These are great opportunities to get out of the studio and gather inspiration to bring back to their work. Virtual Reality: Clo3DWith the addition of the Virtual Reality programme Clo3D to the course, our students have been exploring designing and pattern cutting directly in the software and creating outfits for their avatars. The programme creates exciting new and sustainable ways to approach design and construction within the fashion industry and are students will graduate with the skills needed to apply this cutting-edge approach to work and practice. L5 students' work for the Dougie Mac Students' designs were exhibited along with fashion photography stills. The pieces were all sustainably designed and will tour shop fronts around the county. Students' designs were exhibited along with development boards and process documentation.
