Name & Course:

I am Daniel Yasein, currently enrolled in the Policing and Criminal Investigation course at Staffordshire University.

Destination:

My recent journey led me to Germany, where I was privileged to delve into various aspects of law enforcement at the prestigious Lower Saxony Police Academy.

Activities:

During my time in the academy, I engaged in a multitude of enriching activities that broadened my understanding of policing practices. I delved into specialised courses, such as missing persons’ investigations and honing skills crucial for such delicate scenarios. Moreover, I had the unique opportunity to immerse myself in real-world scenarios by training at the emergency police centre, simulating high-pressure situations, and learning to respond effectively.

Additionally, I experienced the remarkable bond between law enforcement and their loyal companions during horseback riding and police dog training sessions. These experiences not only foster teamwork, but also emphasise the invaluable role of animals in police operations.

One of the most enlightening aspects of my visit was the meeting of international students and police officers from diverse backgrounds. Engaging in discussions about their experiences has broadened my perspective and enriched my understanding of global law enforcement practices.

Skill and Knowledge Development:

My time at the Police Academy in Germany has been instrumental in shaping my future skills and knowledge. Specialised courses and hands-on training have equipped me with practical skills essential for a career in law enforcement, enhancing my employability. Moreover, interacting with international peers and seasoned professionals has provided me with insights into different policing approaches, making me a more adaptable and culturally competent future law enforcement officer.

Highlights:

Reflecting on my experience, the highlight was undoubtedly the sense of camaraderie and the shared passion among participants. Whether to collaborate on training exercises or exchange cultural perspectives during downtime, the bonds formed during this experience will undoubtedly endure. Additionally, witnessing the dedication and expertise of German law enforcement professionals left a profound impression on me, inspiring me to strive for excellence in my career.

Overall, my visit to the Police Academy in Germany has been a transformative journey, equipping me with the invaluable skills, knowledge, and perspectives that will shape my future career in law enforcement and criminal investigation. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity and look forward to applying what I have learned to positively impact my community.
