Staffordshire University is named among the best universities for teaching quality and job prospects in the StudentCrowd University Awards 2021
The fact that these awards are based 100% on student reviews makes receiving them all the more special. To know that our students are having a valuable and enriching university experience is all we can ask for and we will continue to develop cutting edge practice in digital learning, teaching and assessment.
The independent awards provide the only rankings for UK universities based 100% on real students' experiences, with a total of 19,323 university reviews analysed across 11 different categories to reveal the top 20 universities within each category.
Winners have been selected purely on their average review score over the 24-month period from July 2019 to July 2021. Today, Staffordshire University has been revealed as the 14th Best University for Teaching Quality and 17th Best University for Job Prospects.
It is not the first time that Staffordshire University has been recognised for delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for students; in 2019 it received a Gold certification in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) and was ranked in the Top 15 for Teaching Quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021.
Dr Annabel Kiernan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education, said: “We are delighted to have won not one but two StudentCrowd Awards! At Staffordshire University we are passionate about providing the best possible learning experience, building strong links with industry partners and equipping students with the real-world employability skills to help kickstart their careers.
“The fact that these awards are based 100% on student reviews makes receiving them all the more special. To know that our students are having a valuable and enriching university experience is all we can ask for and we will continue to develop cutting edge practice in digital learning, teaching and assessment.”
Remote decision-making has become even more important this year with UCAS’s 2020 New Applicant Survey reporting that 78% of prospective students cite ‘online review by other students’ as either ‘important’ or ‘extremely important’ to their university decision.
The StudentCrowd provides a platform for students to review their university, course and accommodation, rating them out of 5 stars, and over 1.5 million users have visited the site in the last 12 months to make decisions about university.
Dr Kiernan added: “We know that many people haven’t yet made a decision about their university place this year and hope that this news will go some way to helping anyone thinking of applying to Staffordshire University with their decision-making. We still have places available on a wide variety of course and encourage anyone to get in touch with our Clearing team to find out more.”
