Staffordshire University has been awarded a Carbon Literate Organisation Bronze Award in its drive towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030
Carbon Literacy lies at the heart of our journey in achieving our Strategic Priority of carbon net zero for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, and scope 3 by 2050, helping the UK hit its 2050 target to become net zero, and tackling climate change to create a carbon-zero world for future generations.
In October 2022, Staffordshire University was awarded its Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation certificate.
The Carbon Literacy Project is a unique training scheme that helps Universities, their students, and their staff to understand the carbon impacts of their everyday actions and help them make informed choices to address climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
Sally McGill, Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at Staffordshire University said: “Carbon Literacy lies at the heart of our journey in achieving our Strategic Priority of carbon net zero for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, and scope 3 by 2050, helping the UK hit its 2050 target to become net zero, and tackling climate change to create a carbon-zero world for future generations.”
The Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation Award shows that Staffordshire University is serious about creating and sustaining a low-carbon culture.
Staffordshire University has pledged to make Carbon Literacy Training and Certification available to all its students and staff. The training is being delivered by Dr Paul Barratt and Dr Janet Wright from the School of Justice, Security and Sustainability.
