Staffordshire University London (SUL) has won the Staff Make Staffs School of the Year Award at the 2023 Celebrating Staff Success awards. The award recognises SUL's outstanding contributions to the university and its students.

The Staffordshire University Celebrating Staff Success awards honour and celebrate the achievements of staff across all our campuses in Staffordshire and London. The awards align with the university’s 2030 strategy, particular the core strands of Next Gen Education, Engagement, Experience, and Environment.

Individuals or teams are nominated by their peers for demonstrating outstanding work aligned with the university’s core values:

  • Be ambitious and inspirational.
  • Be fair and inclusive.
  • Be curious and daring.
  • Be innovative and enterprising.

Staffordshire University London is the latest campus of Staffordshire University’s growing network, having opened its doors in 2019. However, in a short period of time, it has established itself as a dynamic provider of higher education in the capital, which offers an exciting portfolio with a digital focus.

Ian Blachford, Chief Operating Officer and head of Staffordshire University London stated, “I am immensely proud of the individual and collective efforts of all, in transforming our culture at London. We will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Sam Westall, a Games Art lecturer who attended the ceremony to receive the award, stated, “I am extremely proud to be a part of our London team. Everyone is motivated by the same reason: to give our students the best possible experience and help them create fond memories of their time at Staffordshire University London.”

He continued, “I love working with such a dedicated and passionate group of people. We are all committed to providing our students with the resources and support they need to succeed. We want to help them reach their full potential and prepare them for success in the real world. I am also excited about the future of our team and SUL. We have so many ambitious plans, and I know that we can achieve them together. I am proud to be a part of this team and to play a role in shaping the future of SUL.”

The university is known for its innovative studio-based teaching methods, high-specification hardware, and its strong focus on student support. The School of the Year Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the academic team and the staff in providing its students with the best possible education and experience, and this award is a recognition of that commitment.
