I recently joined the Institute of Business and Innovation in the School of Digital, Technology, Innovation and Business at University of Staffordshire as a Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour. I am an award-winning graduate with a robust research background and industry experience.
I earned my PhD in Business and Management from the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester in 2023. My research explored the work and employment challenges and tensions for online task crowd workers, web-based digital labour platforms and buyers, under the supervision of Professor Tony Dundon and Dr Stephen Mustchin. Prior to my doctorate, I completed an MSc in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations with distinction from the Alliance Manchester Business School in 2017, and a first-class BA in Business Management and Human Resource Management from the Keele Business School, the University of Keele, in 2015.
Recognised for academic excellence, I received prestigious awards, including the Economic and Social Research Council Northwest Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership Studentship and the Faculty of Humanities President’s Doctoral Scholar Award at the Alliance Manchester Business School. I also earned a distinguished scholarship and the Programme Prize for my MSc and was awarded the student prize for Human Resource Management during my undergraduate studies. My research contributions include a book chapter on youth employment and co-authored articles on remote working, published in esteemed platforms.
Beyond academia, I have gained diverse experience in higher education and retail. I previously worked at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and Keele University’s IT services, alongside retail roles at Woolworths, Spar, and Rohan Designs Ltd. Passionate about teaching and research, I am dedicated to exploring the gig economy and its implications for work and employment. Within the school, I will be teaching various undergraduate, postgraduate, and apprenticeship students.
