Michael Spellman

Lecturer

Health, Education, Policing and Sciences

I am a lecturer within a growing department and have undertaken a number of module lead roles, linked to my specialisms. I spent thirty, very happy years with West Midlands, undertaking a wide range of roles.

I was born and raised in Solihull in the West Midlands before leaving to undertake my first degree in Business Economics and Economics at Southampytom University. On leaving there I had a variety of jobs whilst looking for a career, which I found in policing in July 1988. Over the next thirty years I undertook a number of uniform and detective roles prior to specialising as a Detective Inspector within the Professional Standards Department. I then moved over to working in Public Protection, where I spent the last ten years of my service.

I am looking to work with and develop the investigative and public protection elements of the modules provided by the Institute of Policing, but continue to operationally develop student officers for the rigorous ahead
