I trained as a Nurse and Paramedic in Australia and worked as a nurse for 12 months before moving to London to work as a Paramedic.
During my five and a half year career for the London Ambulance Service I had many different opportunities and associated responsibilities.
Working on a double crewed ambulance (1 year)
-This was a sound developmental year in which I learnt the craft of being a Paramedic.
Fast response car (2 years)
-This experience allowed me to gain invaluable experience as a solo responder within central London.
Working on the Joint Response Mental Health Unit (18 months)
-This experience allowed me to understand the domain of Mental Health in the community and has been invaluable to both my clinical and academic career.
Working as a Clinical advisor (1 year)
-This experience involved telephone assessment and care which significantly broadened my clinical ability.
Throughout my time working in London I was involved in the creation and delivery of multiple education sessions involving topics such as burnout, compassion fatigue, paediatric cardiac arrest, and the Mental Capacity Act.
I am currently completing an MSc to continue my growth in the academic domain.
