I have almost 30 years teaching experience in schools, further and higher education.

  • Education Doctorate due to be completed in 2017 – Researching metacognitive reading strategies in adult Functional Skills classes
  • MSc Computing
  • Coaching and Mentoring (M level 30 credits)
  • Certificates in Training the Trainers (Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL at Level 5)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education
  • City and Guilds 7307 Further and Adult Education (Stages 1 and 2)
  • City and Guilds 9281 initial Certificates in Teaching Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL
  • BA (Hons) English and History

Expertise

I have extensive expertise of working in the secondary and post compulsory sector as well as experience of teaching in Greece and China. I am also an external examiner for PGCE Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) courses.

Research interests

My research interests include how reading skills are taught in Functional Skills (English) classes in Post Compulsory Education and Training.

Enterprise and commercial interests

I have led and been a team member on securing UK and international partnerships in education.
