University of Staffordshire offers an extensive portfolio of activities and workshops to schools and colleges across the region that can be tailored to meet the needs of your audience, and can be delivered both virtually and at your institution.

An important part of our work focuses on working with learners who are underrepresented within higher education, as defined by the Office for Students. We have developed a comprehensive programme of activities, particularly for those in Years 7-13. They are designed to raise awareness of the benefits of university and inspire your learners to think about their future.

Targeted Outreach Activity: Our programme of activity is offered in selected schools and colleges across the region. Students taking part have access to activities and events to help them consider their future and how higher education can help them achieve their goals.
Signposting: We provide impartial information, advice and guidance on the range of routes and pathways available into and through further and higher education to all audiences.
CPD for Teachers and Advisors: We are committed to ensuring teachers and advisers have the information and skills they need to best support their students. Every child is unique, which is why we deliver a number of CPD activities, on a range of topics, during the academic year.
Strategic Outreach: We are working hard to understand the needs of the region and where there may be gaps in higher education outreach activity and are working with key sector agencies and a range of strategic partners to fill these gaps with impactful and evidence-based initiatives.

Children's University

Children’s University is an award scheme for children aged 5 - 14, that encourages, tracks and celebrates their participation in learning beyond the classroom.

Simon Jenkins

Head Of Recruitment & Access

Simon has over 15 years of experience working in Higher Education leading global student recruitment and admissions functions to achieve strong outcomes via data and insight informed strategies.

Laura Knight

Recruitment Manager

Laura leads student recruitment activity across our 3 campuses in Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and London. With 19 years' experience in FE and HE, she is passionate about supporting students on their journey to higher education.

Danny North

Recruitment Officer

Danny works closely with schools and colleges across Birmingham and the West Midlands. He specialises in student recruitment, outreach, stakeholder engagement and supporting learners in their progression to university.

Lucy Beaman

Recruitment Officer

Lucy is an experienced student recruitment officer, working with schools and colleges across Stoke-on–Trent and the wider Staffordshire area providing personalised IAG support through presentations and workshops.

Kimberley Burrell

Recruitment Officer

Kim is a Student Recruitment Officer who works with schools and colleges across the East and West Midlands. She is experienced in delivering Information and Guidance, coordinating campus visits, and supporting students through their journey

Shelly Pointon

Schools & Colleges Assistant

Shelly supports careers fairs, school and college visits, campus events, UCAS exhibitions, and the Student Ambassador Programme while helping prospective students explore their higher education options and supporting the wider recruitment team.

Jamie Leese

Recruitment Officer Postgraduate

Jamie Leese is a recruitment officer who has been working in various roles at University of Staffordshire for 12 years. Jamie specialises in postgraduate recruitment and helping current students with their future plans.

Gemma Kelly

Access & Transitions Manager

Gemma is the Access and Transitions Manager with over 20 years’ experience in education. Her role focuses on widening access to HE, supporting underrepresented learners and developing progression pathways into university.

Lauren Vernon

Access & Transitions Officer

Lauren specialises in working closely with schools to develop programmes of activity to develop students confidence, raise awareness of pathways and support informed decision making.
