Pre-course reading

Full reading lists for the course will be made available for you to when you arrive at University. But in the mean time, keep watching your favourite films and television programmes as well as listening to the radio to think about how these are constructed and how they are connecting with their audiences.

Pre-arrival task!

During Welcome Week we will introduce you to the course and a range of activities to help you settle in and find your way around. You will also get to meet your tutors and other students who share the same media interests and passions as yourself. You could start thinking about some of the film, television and radio content that you could produce at University covering the areas that you are interested in.

Things to think about!

Before beginning the course, think about your own viewing and listening habits. What types of content appeal to you and why? How are producers keeping your interest as a viewer and listener? Why do you enjoy accessing this type of film, television and radio output? You may also like to think about the directors, producers, writers and performers who have made these films and programmes and how they began their creative journey.

Equipment

The Media Centre, equipment stores and the film, television and radio studio production spaces provides all of the main equipment and software that you will need for the course.

Recent course developments

Our current students have recently been involved in virtual work experience on Saturday Night Takeaway for ITV Studios, working as television reviewers for BBC Sounds and contributing to Capital FM with Roman Kemp.

Course trips

We regularly have trips as part of your course and this has included visiting film festivals, production studios, exhibitions and also some extra curricular trips to France and New York.

Course delivery

Teaching will be through a mixture of workshops, lectures, tutorials and seminars. We are expecting to be on campus for three days a week to allow you access to our production facilities and equipment for the practice-related aspects of the course. We will be supporting you through all aspects of the teaching and learning on Film, Television and Radio.
