Village Life

Village living is just the start of our new student village story. As a resident of the student village, you’ll also be within walking distance of the new Village Hub, boardwalk, parkland areas and new parking facilities.

Vibrant Village Hub

Discover the heart of community life at the Student Village's Village Hub. The hub is your go-to spot on campus—a place to connect, hang out, study, and most importantly, a community space you can call your own.

With flexible event space in the Market Hall, breakout areas for studying and socialising, and a relaxing rooftop terrace, the Village Hub truly has it all. Plus, if you're living in the village, the hub is where you'll find the ResLife team, always on hand to ensure your experience in the Student Village is the best it can be.

All aboard the boardwalk

Connecting the Student Village and Village Hub, the new boardwalk crosses the River Trent near the current Spode Halls of Residence. This boardwalk serves as your gateway to the Student Village and nature reserve, making it easier than ever to get across campus.

Perfect Parkland

Once across the boardwalk you’ll be welcomed by our stunning new parkland areas.

As part of the development of the new Student Village Townhouses and Cluster Blocks, we’ll be replacing the current Leek Road halls of residence and Leek Road Houses with peaceful green spaces right on campus. This will create a serene environment, connecting you directly to The Catalyst, Science Centre, Sports Centre, Students’ Union venues, and beyond.

Amidst the parkland, you’ll discover an 800m fitness loop encircling the village, featuring a surfaced path perfect for jogging or walking. If running isn’t your style, explore various fitness stations along the loop, enjoy a decked area for yoga and informal exercise, or simply relax with friends in the tranquil surroundings. What’s not to love?

Squires View

We're keeping the Student Village mostly parking-free to maintain a pedestrian-friendly  and sustainable environment. In your new village home, you'll be just steps away from everything campus has to offer and well-connected to the local railway station and bus services, making it easy to explore Stoke-on-Trent's five towns and beyond.

For those with accessibility needs, we’re adding 25 accessible/EV charging spaces at the village, accessible from Lordship Lane. And don’t worry about move-in day—we've got you covered so you can park close to your new home while unloading and settling into village life.

To offset the spaces being repurposed for our new parkland, Squires View (located on campus and accessible from Leek Road) will provide 200 additional parking spaces. These will be available to all students, staff, and visitors, in addition to the existing parking on Leek Road and College Road.
