First day essentials

Getting around campus

Your line manager will give you the time and location for arrival on your first day as you will need to be granted access to your office building. You should have submitted your photograph to the HR team via your new starters form on the recruitment portal, this will be used to create your Staff ID Card. Your Staff ID Card should be visible at all times when on Campus and will be needed to move around site, this will be issued in your first two weeks of employment, until then campus security will issue you with a temporary pass. When you receive your Staff ID, if there are any areas you cannot access please contact Campus Security who will be able to update the pass as necessary.

If you need anymore information prior to your start date, please do contact the HR team via askhr@staffs.ac.uk or your new line manager and we will be able to assist you.

What to wear

We do not operate a formal dress code for employees, other than for those who are provided with a uniform or protective clothing in relation to the role you undertake. However, employees must ensure that their dress is appropriate for the situation in which they are working and that they present a professional image, reflecting sensitivity to customer expectations and perceptions. This may reflect their ethnicity and lifestyle, but should not be provocative and cause offence to those with whom they have contact. Consideration must also be given to the health and safety of both staff and students.

If you do have any questions about what to wear, then please speak to your new manager for further guidance.
