Benefits and Annual Leave

Annual leave

We provide generous annual leave benefits. Employees working a five-day week are entitled to a minimum of 29 days rising to 37 days dependent on the grade of their post, together with 11 bank holidays and discretionary days. The University encourages colleagues to utilise their entitlement to ensure a good work-life balance.

The University’s Annual Leave policy outlines the framework for taking annual leave, as well as setting out entitlements, milestones that leave must be booked and taken by, carry forward of leave to the next leave year and arrangements for taking leave on the termination of employment.

The process for requesting annual leave is through MyView where you can also view your annual leave entitlement and the number of days’ annual leave still to be booked. Managers can also view their team members’ leave entitlements and approve leave requests on MyView.

Staff benefits

Along with our annual leave allowance, we offer a range of other benefits to help with everything from childcare to your commute. Click the links below to find out more about the different services available to staff members.

Travel

With a community of over 13,000 students and 1,600 staff, we acknowledge that it generates a significant amount of travel that impacts the local area. One of the most obvious and detrimental factors of staff and student travel is single-occupancy car journeys and the associated problem of road congestion. In order to make it easier for staff to choose an alternative to car journeys, we have a range of travel benefits in place

Childcare

The first years of your child’s life are some of their most important. We understand that deciding how to care for your child during that time is a big decision to make.

Our Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' nursery provides full day-care for children ages 0 to 5 and is available for students, staff and members of the local community. Full and part time sessions are available, so be sure to request a place as soon as you can.
