Student Cards

All students need to have completed enrolment before they are issued their student card.

If you are a student studying on campus (full-time, part-time, blended learning or on an apprenticeship), you will be able to collect your Student ID Card when you arrive.

If you are a student moving into University accommodation you will be provided with your Student ID card as part of the moving-in process.

You will also have access to a Digital ID on Beacon. This does not replace your physical card whilst you’re on campus but can be used to demonstrate your student status.

Where to collect your card

We strongly advise that cards are collected with sufficient time to get your first session and, where possible, in advance of your first day on campus.

You will need to collect your student card from the campus where your course is based.

Stoke-on-Trent campus

Student card collection will be available within the Science Centre, Leek Road (marked 25 on our campus map) during Student Connect Team opening hours.

Stafford campus

Collection is from the Student Connect team in the Centre of Health Innovation, Blackheath Lane (located in the main building on our campus map).

London campus

Help Desk, University of Staffordshire London.

New entrants, during your first day on campus, you will receive a notification on Beacon with your allocated time for collection. Please adhere to the collection times provided.

Returning students

If your card has been lost, stolen, or damaged, ask Beacon or visit Student Connect for details of how to get a replacement card.

International students

Your card will be provided at the end of your face-to-face enrolment appointment (subject to completion). Please check your emails regularly, for details on how to book your face-to-face enrolment appointment.

Distance learning and UK Partners

As part of its environmental sustainability strategy, University of Staffordshire has signed up to the One Planet Pledge and has committed to achieving a Carbon Net Zero position by 2030. As part of this Pledge the University has changed its approach to providing physical student cards.

As a Distance Learning or UK Partner students*, we will not automatically print a physical card, as its primary purpose is access to campus buildings and facilities and as identification on University of Staffordshire Campuses. You will have access to a digital Student ID on Beacon.

However, should you intend to come to our campuses you may request a physical card.

UK Partners may request a temporary card, if visiting out of hours, from Security, located in the Cadman Building, (marked 1 on our campus map).

Distance Learners you may request a physical card by emailing studentconnect@staffs.ac.uk with the following details:

  • Student number
  • Full Name
  • Course Title
  • Date you intend to visit campus
  • The campus you will primarily use and will be collecting your card from

By reducing our physical card printing we are reducing our environmental impact.

Local Partner Colleges

Stoke on Trent College, Stoke Sixth Form, Newcastle under Lyme and Stafford College students will have a card printed automatically, due to their locality and requirements on campus.

  • Stoke on Trent College and Stoke Sixth Form students can collect their cards from the Stoke campus (as above).
  • Newcastle under Lyme and Stafford College student cards will be provided via their College.
